Question I heard today about "lower rates".
As we all know, we've had a lot of talk about the fact that some people say thier premiums will be going up under ACA, and others say it's going down.

Well someone on the radio pointed something out that is a simple question that I'm kinda disappointed nobody else thought of asking it earlier.

In all these stories of both the higher and lower rates including the subsidy money? Is it just the lower rate people? And how much is the subsidy money in each case?

Keep in mind that the size of the network greatly influences your premium. I can get a Gold or Platinum plan through Kentucky's exchange for less than what my employer pays Anthem now - but it is an HMO plan with a smaller network than the Anthem PPO plan I'm on right now.

If you also have a terribly unhealthy population in your current plan, you may fare better on the exchange, since it can't weight your group's (or your) medical history. Conversely, if your rates are good now because you or your group is in good health, your rates will be higher on the exchange because you won't get credit for it.

What concerns me about that is all the talk before Obamacare actually went online that rates quoted would be low and go up almost right away.
The actuariales expecting a huge turnout of young healthy people will be adjusting without them included.
