it has since been re added without missing a beat. at no point was it even in any real danger of being dropped.

the IOC learned their lesson and will NEVER pull a stunt like that again

although they did send a pretty clear message to all the other sports that no ones untouchable and will keep them in line for the next decade.

yeah it was more a warning from the IOC to get their S*** and start taking them seriously.

its my favorite sport & TBH it needed to be done. it raised a lot of awareness for the sport and forced the sport to make long overdue rule changes as well as fire its incompetent leaders.

its safe to say wrestling will be 10x better & more popular for now on.

but the problem now is that the other sports that were under evaluation are pissed off because what the IOC did was make it impossible for a new sport upgrade this year because no matter what those new sports did wrestling was guaranteed a spot. they basically destroyed/abused the evaluations process to make a power move on wrestling and now the evaluations process has gone to hell because of it.

if the IOC really wants to make this right they would allow a second evaluation sport to upgrade. and IMO they need to do it anyways because sports in general has grown a lot the last few years and they havent really done anything to match the added viewership with more product. there is no better year to do it because this is perhaps the strongest evaluation class ever.

jeez they have a lot of affiliates

there are 5 b12 affiliates in just one sport.

i think thats a testament to how bad the 4 departed b12 schools screwed the b12.

womens rowing has 5 b12 schools & 2 sec schools. how come they wont just team up and make a rowing conference between the two. or have the b12 add a single affiliate????

Dropping wrestling blew me away when they tried that, given some of the other silly things they sanction, like the ribbon gymnastics. 04-jawdrop

Do they still put on the Olympics?

I haven't watched since 1972.

I watched the whitewater events for the Atlanta Olympics on the Ocoee River in person. It was nearby, and I'm a whitewater enthusiast, even though I can't do it myself any longer. But I didn't watch any of it on TV.

I think a better answer would be:

Mikayla Maroney = not impressed

NBC was so narrow with their Summer Olympics coverage. All basketball, gymnastics, swimming, diving, and volleyball. Very little coverage of most other sports, if any. I was tired of beach volleyball to the point of nausea, even with the cute little bikinis... They never even covered the Corona Bottle Beer Beach Drinking.04-jawdrop

I am depressed. I came in 2nd in this event when I competed. I could never beat Bear Jarrett. But he had a stomach as big as I was at the time. I was completely outmatched.
