Rutgers is not any good and they play in a terrible conference which will inflate their record.

People will respect the Boise win, even if you don't. And the Rutgers win and Iowa win aren't all that different, really.

Not that different, Iowa's 4 losses are to teams with a combined 32-3 and they've been pretty competitive in those games. They also have a win over 7-2 Minnesota.

The best win Rutgers has is over a 3-win SMU team by 3 points.

The incredible irony in this, having both NIU and Fresno in the top 14, actually could help both teams secure a spot because you potentially take an at-large away from a team that would have earned it if you finish outside of 14.

Except that our key wins are on the road. Have the better overall win, but they have two slightly better than average wins...

You are completely right, and that's how the computers see it. Unfortunately most of the human voters don't know that...

RE: Official Fresno game thread
I'm really beginning to dislike Fresno State and their fans (at least the clueless ones). Fresno has been lucky all year. Yesterday was another example, starting with Rutgers last minute victory over awful Temple. Then, add the game last night. The Nevada TD being called back was a borderline call at best. Then, out of desperation, Fresno put the ball in for a late TD (unlike NIU taking a knee inside the 10 yard line with nearly 2 minutes left in the game a few weeks ago).

And here's how the country views last night. I'm out of town visiting friends. They don't follow NIU so they went to bed early. The first thing they said this morning is, "your team (Nevada) got blown out last night". How many early sleeping voters will think the same thing.

I can't wait to hear how the Fresno fans will justify another close win against another bad team.

game is on espn3 for anyone who wants to watch

1) refs were terrible on both sides, they screwed the dogs over just as badly if not more.
2)dogs were in control the entire game, there was no doubt they were going to win
3)I agree, it wasn't a great performance by the bulldogs, but it wasn't bad enough to lose points in the bcs race.
4)late td's are lame, but nevada kept calling timeout, so they deserved it.

I agree. Although I had the feeling they were going to try score regardless.

The only way we catch up in the polls are ball state and Toledo. Ends of story. If we destroy ball state and don't gain much ground on Fresno we might as well book our tickets to the go daddy bowl.

If Fresno plays that poorly at SJSU they get beat.

According to the computers it's Boise, if Boise gets there. But Boise is missing a starting QB and RB.

That said, I'm sure they'll win both in double OT on missed XPs.

I like San Jose to beat them. They have won four in a row and their QB is as good as Carr. Fresno has shown is struggles on the road. This one sets up nicely for an upset.

Also by the time they play we will know where we stand with Ball State and Toledo games behind us. If we lose it won't matter what Fresno does.

That last TD Fresno got was HUGE for perception. I guess the difference between the two was that we won huge so I am not really sure that one more TD would have made a huge perception difference but the Fresno TD definitely DID make a perception difference.

Nevada's coach stopped the clock twice on the final drive.

Hedoesn't call those timeouts and Deruyter ends the game with us near midfield

They could have taken a knee inside the 10 yard line and run out the clock. Fresno is panicking and they know they need the style points before the Huskies pass them. In fact, you would have been pissed if they didn't try to score the last TD...because you know, deep in your heart, we have a better overall resume.

...I know, I know, Rutgers was good when you played them.

I know, right?

DeRuyter isn't a guy to run up the score normally. We spent the entire fourth quarter of the UNLV game turtling hard. But he's not gonna pass up an opportunity like that.

Oh, and Carr needed 15 yards to break the fresno state career passing record when we started that drive. Pretty sure that once the opportunity was given, he wanted to let him break that in front of a home crowd as opposed to in Wyoming next week.

as for the nevada TD called back....that was a meh call, but we got the brunt of some bad ones the other way as well. The PI on Harper was utter garbage. Plus the WR's heel was out, so it was probably coming back anyhow.
