Southern Miss got beat 61-13 at Marshall
I would gladly trade our five wins of the past two years for no wins if it meant having the history of winning Southern Miss has enjoyed.

Throw out the record book when UAB and USM do battle in the season finale.
Please.

I'm not proud of how we've played football the last 8 years, but I would never trade UAB for any other school.
UAB football will get there. I don't know how many weeks or months or years it will take to get there, but UAB will become a winner in football if we are persistent.
Transitioning to Division I so quickly probably hurt us in a number of regards. I understand why we did it and I'm not saying it is a mistake to have done so, but you have to face the fact that many of the schools we face have had football for longer and had the opportunity to build up their fan base, build appropriate facilities, and have an expectation of winning based on prior successes. We don't have any of that, precisely because of how quickly we made the move up the ranks.
Because of all of that, we're going to take our lumps and hits as we try to build up the football program. But make no question, UAB's days of football glory will arrive. Sooner or later, it will happen.

It was one thing to lose to Troy (Sun Belt) once a year, now three former or current Sun Belt teams have beaten UAB this year - Troy, FAU, and Mid TN.

Losing to any of them is not acceptable as a general rule, but I think the folks that weren't kidding themselves knew that this year was destined to result in a similar (or maybe slightly better) record from a year ago. At this point, we appear on track for that.
Hopefully we will continue to get better in the off-season and get some big bodies on the OL and DL. I think we can be a 6 win team next year, or at least that should be the expectation. Less than 6 wins next season, and I think McGee's seat will become very warm.

Unless we play well, we could get clocked at Marshall as well.

Marshall lost to MTSU, so while talented, they are not world-beaters. If we play a ball control type of style, we could make that Marshall game close as well. If there's anything to take away from this disappointing loss, it is that this style of play might very well be the best way to keep from giving up 40+pts. I will take losing by 3pts to MTSU over losing by several TDs to UTSA or FAU any day of the week.

FAU who many of us consider as a bad loss just beat a 6-win Tulane team by 17pts.
UTSA beat Tulsa by 19pts today, as well.

Next year will be interesting. CUSA will have 13 teams so, unless there is a single division, the divisions will contain 7 and 6 teams. If UAB moves West, as expected, UAB will have games against UTSA, North Texas, LaTech, SMiss, UTEP, & Rice. Then, the East would be Marshall, FIU, FAU, ODU, WKU, & MTSU.

True to some extent, but some schools catch on and "get it" faster sometimes, than others. Look at UTSA, in just 3 years in D-1 & already enjoying the feelings of ascension.
