A sad anniversary today
The Gentle Giant, Alan Ogg died four years ago today in 2009.

Check out my tribute to him in Blazer History.

Met him just before he died. I think Little Smaug came up to his belt buckle.

RE: A sad anniversary today
He was one of the few to whom I literally had to look up to talk to.

We were good friends. On draft night, when we all wondered if he would be picked, he had a draft party at a sports bar in Fultondale owned by his aunt and uncle. It was a great night, and even though he wasn't drafted, we had a great time. They had to bring crates from the storage room for Rick Karle to stand on for the TV interview, so they would be in the same shot.

It was pretty funny.

I miss him, and MB's tribute made me tear up. Thanks, MB, for the fond memories.

I am doing birthdays there and once the season starts will be doing the traditional Today in Blazer history stuff. Plus I will link to other news articles as well.

Also next week on signing day, I am looking back ten years at our early recruit signing.
