oh you mean the conference that wants a tourny in MSG and added a program (louisville) that syracuse was a huge proponent of adding?????

oh but please.....do tell how we dont have much of a say in this conference....

MSG isn't happening and FSU and Clemson were even bigger proponents. Basically saying if the ACC didn't take a FB school they would have to start listening to the Big XII's offer.

3 out of 4 college basketball fans at MSG games prefer Orange over Red.

Every game or that one time a year all the LIRR Cuse fans come to town? Can't wait until YOUR HoF coach leaves and see how you guys do. Better get in all the trash talk you can now.

Long time assistant, and former Syracuse player, Mike Hopkins.

He played from 1989-1993. Has coached at Syracuse since 1995. He's also been an assistant on Team USA 5 times. A few schools have tried to hire him. The two most recent, that I can recall, were Charlotte and this past season USC. The only thing that may have kept him from taking the USC job was Syracuse making it to the Final 4. USC hired Enfield on April 1rst.

I love how you guys think that naming a successor is some how an indication that success will continue. Thats not how it works guys. Also you need to bring in coaches before you become a destination job.

My hate is based on actual face to face meetings with Cuse fans and watching Cuse as a conference mate.

You hate on UConn but god forbid anyone hate on Cuse. You seem to think everyone loves the orange when in fact you are not beloved by any former or current BE teams.

Just about anything? Oh so Boehiem retiring isn't that big of a deal huh? The new guy is just going to come in and keep everything at the highest of levels and not miss a beat? Okay, sure. 07-coffee3

hes not some no name assistant dude. hes by far a better recruiter than boehiem. in fact since he took over recruiting we have been recruiting better than ever.

he played at SU, coached at SU and he knows our system better than anyone else. from recruiting grounds to our playbook it doesnt get any smoother of a transition than that.

even if he doesnt do well we are still a destination school with some of the best facilities, history, an elite basketball conference with yearly access & a major presence in some great recruiting grounds.

all i see is a hater

I dont know if anyone has said that everything will be ok with Mike Hopson or not, but I do know that he is SU's top recruiter. The fact that he has been mentored by Boeheim for many years now, makes the transition a little easier. Hoping that the program falls apart after Boeheim retires is worth about as much as hoping the program continues at its current pace.

SU is indeed a destination job, and if Mike Hopkins fails, SU will just bring in John Beilein, who is from Upstate NY and has said that SU has always been his dream job. But there are a lot of hot young coaches who would love to coach in the Carrier Dome in fron of record setting crowds. Also, Boeheim has made himself quite a coaching tree of former SU players who are now heading up there own programs in college and the pros. There will be no shortage of great candidates who will try to succeed Boeheims successor, if need be.

you are totally right. only coach K really rivals boehiems coaching tree. we have a lot of good candidates to pick from.

RE: BB preseason polls
you can have all the candidates you want, but bottom line with any one replacing a legend, it's a challenge. It's what's going to make the ACC so interesting the next decade- with 4 HOF coaches retiring soon.

Look at Alabama football, it took them really 25 years to replace the Bear.

sometimes not even that. I mean, you could almost make an argument that UCLA has never replaced John Wooden.

RE: BB preseason polls
i love jimmy to death,

however replacing him is not as daunting as you portray. saben & bears "standard of excellence" is winning multiple nattys in rapid succession. thats why its so hard to replace those guys at bama and live up to their name. boeheim has done wonders for our town and im truly greatfull for that however his "standard of excellence" is making the tourny every year and getting a FF once a decade. while hes a great coach replacing him doesnt come with the pressure of replacing a legend as it normally would.

yeah i know my fellow cuse fans might not like that above paragraph, but thats my take on it

I'm a Hoya's fan and I disagree with that. He's done a lot more than you say. Only Coach K has won more games major colleges than he has at 920. He'll have been there for 40 years. He went 362-191 in Big East play. 30 NCAA spots and 17 sweet 16's. 30 20 win seasons so far. He's one of the top 10-15 college coaches ever.

true however thats a duration thing. no coach is gonna worry that he doesnt have enough wins on the all time list within the first couple of years of his tenure.

by the time that all time wins do become a factor he will be already established at SU and have nothing to worry about with "replacing a legend"
