I was at the gym with my niu gear on and a Illinois fan came up to me saying I wish my team was like niu. He talked about academically and on the field. Also was happy we beat Iowa!! Just thought I would share this.

Hell yeah.

A U of I guy I work with has been to every one of our home games last year and this year. Says he's on the bandwagon and loves the Huskies.

I haven't been so lucky. I work with a UIC grad who is not impressed with NIU. He says that UIC has not lost a football game since 1973. And, he is correct!

It has to really bother Illini fans that NIU has had a better team for close to a decade. They are in the B1G for Gods sake.

And UI still gets more ink in the Sun-Times than we do - even though we are BCS-ranked and are 8-0....and UI is abysmal. Some things will never change no matter what. I guess it's because UI is a Chicago team and NIU is not. Yeah, that's it.

I went to UIC for a year and it is NOT a fun place and has zero school pride. If you wore a UIC sweatshirt people would look at you funny. Plus, every time I see a report of school's with the best and worst looking women, I expect UIC to be on as the worst. Even to this day my dad will say, "every time I picked you up or dropped you off, I never saw a good looking girl there...no wonder you transferred after one year".

Based on my conversations at Illinois games it doesn't bother them that NIU is good or better, it just bothers them that UI is terrible. Generally speaking, from personal experience, they want NIU to do well.

The guy sitting next to me last weekend for the MSU trainwreck was following the NIU game on his phone (he apparently didn't realize the scores rotate on the ribbon boards) so we had a pretty good long discussion about how well the Huskies are doing, how far the program has come, Lynch, etc.

Had a nice conversation with the dad of a trick-or-treater tonight. He saw my NIU shirt and said "Go Huskies".

We got to talking; he's a Miami fan who was pulling for us during the Orange Bowl and said he saw "something on TV" about NIU football recently.

Nice guy who knew football, so I knew he wasn't Chaz.

A dad and son came to my door last night, the dad wearing an Illini Jacket and a NIU hat...I told my GF, he is a very confused man.

It does seem like VCB maintains a tight hold on it. When in DeKalb, it seems like I buy all of my NIU gear at VCB or, sometimes, at the NIU Bookstore. I heard that WalMart has a good selection, but I will not set foot in a WalMart, even if they gave the stuff out for free or paid me to take it. I just wish VCB had a better selection and/or change their line of stuff more often. There is SO much stuff for other teams that we can't get.

They have had a dedicated rack for NIU since the OB announcement.

F&F stores are restricted from carrying anything other than what corporate designates. They are in Janesville, WI so they probably don't care much about NIU.
