The BE has now 2 bcs caliber teams.. period.. no more... and a couple Pitt and USF with the potential to be bcs caliber... CUSA has 2 with as much potential as USF and pitt in Memphis and UCF... Utep and Ecu compare very well with the rest of the be.

Ignore the hype: crack ISN'T good for you.
That depends on whose crack it is. lmfao

How in the hell is UCF bcs caliber after one successful season after going 0 for eternity? I think UCF is doing the right things to eventually get there. You haven't even had a string of bowl game appearances! Atleast Memphis has gone to three in a row. The only school that can be a beast of a football team in CUSA is SOUTHERN MISS! They have proven they belong. Southern Miss may have had a down year to there standards but they are still the best "known" commodity football wise in that league. The problem with CUSA is that they don't have any consistent teams in the conference.

Cincy and UofL fans can speak about the level of competition between the two conferences and its really not that close. You take out TCU, UofL and Cincy. Thats three teams who went to bowls consistently in that conference. Definitly three of your better teams in CUSA, add Southern Miss to that group and that was the four best teams in that conference. I will always have respect for Memphis and USM, but outside of that no other team in CUSA put fear in me as a fan. The Big East is a much much much more physical league. Syracuse who was the worst team in the league had one of the best defenses. Before you guys rag on Syracuse check how many guys they put in the league. Plus they had a new coach putting in a new offense. Pitt probably had the biggest O-line I had seen and WVU was just physical on both sides of the ball. Its awful funny UCF guys can rag on Pitt when in 04 they were 8-4 while UCF was still 0 for whatever.

Southern Miss could definitly survive in the Big East because they were probably the most physical team in CUSA when were there. TCU would have been able to compete also. One thing I've learned about the Big East is that its much more of a smash mouth style type of football. Southern Miss fits that mold because they always had a physical defense. UofL would have easily went undefeated in CUSA last year and Cincy would of been a bowl team. I don't think anybody in CUSA was as good as USF last year. Thats just my observation from seeing some CUSA games and compiling that with the level of talent when UofL was in the league. The talent level really isn't that close, but you can contribute that to the Big East being a BCS league. If UofL wasn't in a BCS conference we wouldn't be seeing the likes of Brohm and Bush walking through the door. Both committed when UofL announced they would be joining the big east.

I didnt say they were bcs caliber... i said they have potential... YES UCF just had a 0-17 run... but if U look before that they were bowl eligible more often than not. they had 2 bad years where the wheels came off the cart... G. O. has put them back on and got it moving again.

Trust me I don't think you would have a problem building a solid program in CUSA. I believe at this point in time its a great fit for UCF, it gives you the opportunity to build your football program to the point where you can be consistent every year. Thats what UofL had to do, and you certainly have some winnable games in CUSA to get the confidence rolling consistently. Winning breeds success and the more you win the better you recruit. If UCF was in the big east now I don't think you would be able to build your program as "quickly". Being in CUSA gives you a chance to do that and then set yourself up to look pretty for expansion. Thats like UofL in a BCS conference in its infancy trying to build a conference playing teams who have better talent. You definitly have to take baby steps first.

As much as I may throw jabs at CUSA, UofL was able to become a visible football school in CUSA. UCF has every opportunity to do the same with the new facilities and everything. CUSA took a huge hit with expansion but they were able to get a better TV contract than what I thought they would get. One thing recruits commented UofL on was how good the stadium looked under the lights on TV. UCF's new stadium will be shown in that same light. UCF already has a recruiting advantage over most of your CUSA east brethern because you don't have to leave florida. I think UCF can blossom in CUSA.
