Here's some data/math, from an Alum/Local:

Students - 5,000 in attendance /20,000 (rough estimate) - 25%

Local's/Alum/Other - 15,000 (balance in attendance) /225,000 Alums (per the ESPN commercial) - 6.67%

Students aren't the opportunity. It's the apathetic fanbase that suitcased out of town when they were at NIU and, have chosen not to come back for the games - the Terri Boers of the world.

With continued success, they will come back...

^^ This is correct. Know lots of them.

With continued success, they will come back...

^^ Not so sure. Trying though, brought four new ones to the game and had a blast.

They'd rather watch Notre Dame or U of I, because they had a grandparent or an Uncle that went to those schools. I know too many people that love schools they never went to. They never even lived in the state those schools are in. It's annoying.

You'd think we get some band wagon fans to hop on board.

Before the game, the west lots were as packed as the first 2 games. I can see the overflow going to the east side.

RE: Students, shame on you!
crazy me.

sat in SE corner of east stands for first time in perhaps a decade ....for the hellavit...

later moved into handicap seating directly above Huskie bench...kinda fun vantage point ..watching staff/players upclose and personal...

my pre attendance estimate/guess prior to announcement was pretty much on the money.... West Stands = 15,000 seats minus estimated 2 thousand empty seats ...East stands = 9,000 minus 3000 empty seats...

20K not all bad considering opponent sucked...cool temps for wimps and windy..... plus TV

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE STUDENT SUPPORT!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE KIDS??? There is absolutely NO reason why the east side shouldn't be packed every game, especially considering the recent success of the football program.

This NEEDS to change!!!!

Help, Frazier!!!

That is all. Go Huskies!

Many more empty seats in West vrs EMU than Akron game for Homecoming...
the parking lots for older farts and handicaps was less crowded. I arrived late at 1:30pm and had no problem finding a vacant stall....all stalls were filled for Akron one hr before gametime...05-stirthepot

RE: Students, shame on you!
Okay, lots of empty seats on the "student" side. However, I'd like to know the actual student turnout. Generally, it's fairly good. Like at least 5k, which is a good chunk of the student body.

Yes, great tunout by alumni and casual fans.

However, it's not up to just the students to fill the east side. It's a 24k seat stadium, everyone helps fill the east side even if you don't want to sit that side. Stop blaming just one side. Blame goes on the ENTIRE fan base. And no disrespect to EMU, but not a lot of people are going to that game unless its opening night, senior night, or homecoming.

I've always found it funny that people act like the east side should be filled by 100% students. What stadium in the country has 50% student attendance? Unfortunately you'll never have 10,000 students at an NIU game.

Doesn't it cost more to sit on the East side? Why? We have total enrollment of what, 22,000? We aren't going to get 9,000 students to fill up the East side.

4-5K EIU fans showed up for the season opener or it would not have been sold out. Don't know why MAC opponents don't travel like that

Because they don't have tens of thousands of alumni that live within 90 minutes of Dekalb?

RE: Students, shame on you!
Lets take away the student part for a min...The East stands did not have 4k non students and the West did not sell out. Frazier finally got his dose of what the reality is and now he needs to get going on Ball St while figuring out what could have been done better.

The West stands had a few less than the past two games yet the consessions stands were still running out of items. They gave away hot chocolate after the game IF you had a cup because they ran out of cups. My friend went to buy hot chocolate & a pretzel and the ran out of lids and pretzels. We saw 2 vendors walking the stands in the end of the 3rd quarter.

Lots of planning improvements can be made.

What was up with the red/black chant when we were on offence again? How does this happen a second time after Carey mentioned it several times?

There's no way EIU had close to 4K there.

I know, I couldn't believe they did that AGAIN! Don't do it at all if you have to do it before we go on offense.
