WBB 5th in Pre-Season Mid-Major Poll
Poll by CollegeInsider http://www.collegeinsider.com/womens-mid...top-25.php

MAC Schools ranked/receiving votes:
5 Toledo
9 CMU
25 BGSU
(34) Akron
(45) Ball St
(57) Buffalo

Coach Cullop is the only MAC coach who votes.

We'll get an immediate feel for how accurate the polling is when we face #15 ranked Drexel in our opening game on Nov 9.

Call me skeptical. CMmU is team to beat in my opinion.

I think you're right, but I do think Toledo will surprise you.

I wonder if our ranking is based on past performance, or if coaches really know something about the new players we have coming in. I suspect the former. I'm shocked to see us ranked above all other MAC teams.

If we gel early I see us as number two in the West and maybe making some noise in the MAC. The cupboard CERTAINLY isn't bare.

Agree - the Chips lost two starters who combined for nearly 18 points a game but they return the top two scorers. No reason to expect a drop off. They have a tough schedule playing Kentucky, Marquette, Xavier, Duke, Purdue, Notre Dame. along with Kansas and Dayton twice each before hosting the Rockets

I know I'm sounding like a broken record since I've said similar things on other threads, but why are Ball State and Akron being disrespected?

Toledo received 6 votes in USA/Coach's Top 25 Poll-a week old FYI. Guevara was only MAC coach voting. Votes seem based on last yr's performance.

That is an extremely impressive out-of-conference schedule. Kentucky, Duke and Xavier are all games from a tournament held in the Virgin Islands. All the other games except one game with Dayton are away games which makes for a brutal schedule----hopefully for CMU some of those match-ups also involve a return game at Mt. Pleasant.

Getting into that Virgin Island's tournament was quite a coup and I suspect Crystal Bradford was a big factor in CMU's inclusion. She became a lot better known outside MAC circles with her play for the US National Team and IMO she should have been POY in the MAC last year.

The POY vote was a travesty. I loved Naama but there was no question as to who the MAC' s best player was. I hope she regresses to her junior high skill level this year but last year she was easily the best.
