I hate to say this, I don't think you know what 'loaded' means. Loaded means that you got high performers at every position, and every position has a strong backup. If you need one player to stay healthy just to stay in each game, you ain't loaded.

OK, so no MAC team is loaded except Akron, who's freshmen would be getting significant minutes if they played for any other team in the MAC but won't get many at Akron.

That’s what Zipshead told us.

Northern Illinois, Dontel Highsmith
Ohio, Antonio Campbell
Toledo, Jonathan Williams
Western Michigan, Kellen McCormick
Central Michigan, Nick Carlos

Maybe it is my 'EMU perspective' but an all-NEWCOMER category might be more useful.

(the reason I say 'EMU perspective' is that we are transfer/JUCO U.)

I'll say the best NEWCOMER in the MAC this year will be Karrington Ward, SF/SG, EMU. This guy has game. As smooooooooth a wing man as we've seen at EMU in many years. I'm shocked that after he visited EMU he signed on and cancelled visits to bigger schools.

An honorable mention all-Newcomer would be transfer Michael Talley, PG Duquesne.

Another possible honorable mention would be JUCO Ajayi, a big man, who supposedly was getting good looks from some pretty big name schools.

IF (as many think) EMU makes a big move up, it will be because of these three. NO frosh contributions.

And, yes, we do have a transfer sitout, Jodan Price, DePaul and Detroit Country Day h.s.

The MAC must have worst coaches in the nation. With all this incredible talent, and not one team even in the top 60. What a waste of top D-I players. All these freshmen and newcomers should have just gone straight to the NBA.

If we are talking newcomers and not freshman, I think it'll be Maurice NDour from Ohio.

Frosh might be nice, but in an era of transfers, including the 5th year graduate transfer, one should take a bigger view on new talent infusion.

I'll bet most newcomers who average more than say 7 or 8 ppg will not be frosh. 03-idea

Looking at Freshmen after 3 weeks...

Ray Lee, G, Eastern Michigan, who was able to hit the reset button on his freshman year after a broken foot - 18ppg, 1.2 reb per game, 1.4 assists per game; including a 38 point game [but take away the 38-point game, and he has 52 points in 4 games - 13ppg]
Zavier Turner, G, Ball State, 15ppg, 2.5rpg, 4apg
Braylon Rayson, G, Central Michigan, 10ppg, 2rpg, 1apg
Franko House, F, Ball State, 5.5ppg, 7.5rpg 2apg

Beyond those 4 guys, it's harder to pick, as most of the rest of the freshmen haven't got a lot of minutes.
Isaiah Johnson, C, Akron, 9.5ppg, 4rpg, in 2 games, 33 total minutes
Jordon Lauf, G, Toledo, 5.25ppg, 3.25rpg, 1.25apg in 59 minutes over 4 games
Jonathan Williams, G, Toledo, 5.75ppg, 1.5rpg, 0.75apg in 60 minutes over 4 games
Dontel Highsmith, G, Northern Illinois, 6ppg, 3.5rpg, 1apg - 77 minutes in 4 games
Kellen McCormick, F, Western Michigan, 7.4ppg, 2rpg - 93 minutes in 5 games

I'm going to look at other newcomers separately

Some pretty good players in there. Lee has had a great season so far and playing for a team that appears to be loaded. Lauf won't make any All-Freshman teams but he will be a guy other coaches will hate to see. He's a mass of cuts and bruises after a game from diving on the florr after every loose ball and he's a tough defender.
