The only one that isn't god awful is sun dogs...

chihuahuas is such a pusssssy name. The logo is cool, but the name is just flat out stupid

I think I would have a more negative reaction if I hadn't already had the opportunity to talk to a lot of the staff. They won me over with their dedication to entertaining kids and families. Still, Chihuahua wouldn't have made my top 500 list.

Awful name. I should've known they'd pick the name most folks dislike.

The ABC TV network affiliate is polling folks, and 96% of 4200 votes or so, are not happy.

I like it.

Its minor league baseball. Minor league baseball team names are supposed to be funny.

I like it a hell of a lot more than just putting "Sun" or "Desert" in front of some other animal to make up a name.

Its not like they called them the poodles or the Corgis or the Pomeranians. And its not random either, because Isn't El Paso near Chihuahua state?

Hey, in Richmond the AA team was recently named the Flying Squirrels, so it could be worse.

Many decades ago, our downtown used to have fountain with live gators in it. I am guessing they were referencing that.

I love the name. It's a reflection of our culture down here in El Paso. I like the colors too.

Those other names say nothing of our cultural ties with Mexico.

The local minor league team here in Winston-Salem is called the Dash. They are named after the hyphen between Winston and Salem....


I miss when they were called the Warthogs.

I like the logo.

In my humble opinion, the worst nickname in Minor League Baseball goes to Winston-Salem. Back when I moved to Winston-Salem in 1990, they were the Winston-Salem Spirits. Nothing too flashy... nice pinstriped unis.


Then, a few years later... they became (my personal favorite for nostalgia reasons) the Winston-Salem Warthogs.


A couple years ago... they became the Winston-Salem DASH... no one could figure out why they were called the "Dash"... but apparently it symbolizes the dash between the words "Winston" & "Salem"... so we're named after a friggin hyphon.

Nothing beats El Paso Diablos but I guess that is taken. Still the New nickname could be fun.

Of all things, I absolutely loathe those barking rats they pass off for dogs. And now that was chosen for the nickname? Stay classy El Paso. I understand marketing for the kids, but the parents hold the wallet. Just when I thought El Paso was going to take a step forward, they move two steps back. What a waste.

Edit: On second thought, now that I think about it, it does represent the city of El Paso perfectly....all bark and no bite.
