CUSA: Memphis and ECU (to shut up Memphis fans, and ECU is traditional)

You would have to win the game first. Fans from such schools as Alabama and Southern Cal will tell you that is easier said than done.

Huh? Are you bragging about beating a 3-8 USC in 1991? They were just like the USC 2003-2005 version right?

And of course Memphis did beat Bama once, back in the '80's. Not sure I'd call that a trend though.

Not bragging, just illustrating the fact that we not a sure win. Maybe it would have been better to use Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Virginia Tech, etc.. I could have mentioned our 19 wins over Louisville, but I am not particularly proud of those.

Not a problem for the Mountaineers. Ask Oklahoma why they won't invite us back.

So does CCNY and San Francisco, sign those guys up too.

lmfao

I don't really care, I just enjoy reminding you bird fans
how gutless your coach and AD are from time to time. ;-)

Its awful funny that you call our AD and Coach gutless considering the success both of those guys have had. Calimari is not on America's most favorite peoples list. He has a pretty good reputation for being a baby. You folks should show more respect to your big cousins, because we own you across the board. Not only that its no secret that Tom Jurich can run circles around your AD. Point is Mr. Jurich gets things done and we are collecting that BCS check. Thats why we "bird" fans love reminding our little cousins to the southwest that you still aren't on our level. ;-)

Man this just gets better and better.

I was just trying to gauge the Cards interest in our hoops series,
not start a flame war with a birdy with hurt feelings because of the
NIT.

Jurich and Pitino are scared to play us. Period. I just figured the
fans might have more pride than these two.

You want respect for playing cupcakes? I love that about $2 mill
of your athletic budget last year went to not playing Memphis.

But hey, you still have your BCS check. 03-thumbsup

True we aren't on your level.

We're better than you,

'cuz. ;-)

Bambu I was just yanking your chain too man, you and squid are two Memphis guys who I know aren't sensitive and can trade some good natured smack around. As far as the two teams not playing, I guess it is what it is at this point in time. Time heals all wounds and I'm sure the two teams will hook up again. I wouldn't mind starting the series back up with you guys and IU but if neither of those happen then I wouldn't be sad, but it would be nice to see those two teams back on the schedule. Did Washington and Williams sign with an agent? Williams I could possibly see right now with his skill set. Washington definitly needs another year, he gets lost in big games. Anyways no pun intended just good natured smack.

As far as I know, neither have signed with an agent. But Williams
looks to be a mid-late first round pick at the moment. I don't think he's
ready, but from what I understand he and his family need the cash
from that guaranteed contract. He's probably gone.

Washington is a complete mystery to me. Last I heard he was
projected to go around #56 or so, but he hasn't said if he's
staying or going. He's in a bad situation too, trying to sell himself
as a point guard. We have a stud PG coming in this year too, so
even if he comes back,he could be forced to compete for the spot.

Most aren't too worried though. If they both go, we'll still be ok.
Calipari has another top 20 recruiting class coming in with a couple
of players I think could be even better.

Carney is being projected at #7 at the moment to Golden State
of all teams. UGH. We're seriously going to miss him and those dunks.

Pac 10: USC

SEC: LSU

Big East: Louisville

ACC: Clemson

MWC: Colorado St (any reason to visit Colorado)

MAC: NIU (Family friend was former University President)

WAC: Fresno St (only team I can recall besides Hawaii)

You probably are not proud because Memphis is losing the overall series to Louisville. Also 3-13 in the last 16. I don't blame you for not being proud!

As for those current power programs that you attempt to list as scalps the Tigers hold up proudly to proclaim they are not a sure win, could you try to deceive the board anymore? I doubt it.

Auburn: UM beat them twice in the '70's when AU won no more than 3 games those years.

Virginia Tech: You last beat them in the '70's, when they were horrible.

Miami: You beat them once in 1969 when they had 4 wins.

FSU: Again, UM beat them last in the 1970's when they sucked.

Anyone else see a trend here? I think I could summarize your point like this:

"Memphis is not a sure win for power programs based on the fact that UM beat those teams decades before they were a national power."

Don't you just hate it when the truth gets in the way?

It only hurts when the person being smacked has a central nervous system. Brain damage can also alter the sensation. 05-stirthepot
