This thread needs more views, more people need to hear what Coach said.

They're too busy being the pretend coach rather than listen to the man who gets paid to do it. Hell, mapdude didn't even acknowledge it.

People are strange.

We have the right coaches. It's going to take a few years to build.

If you left it up to the football geniuses on this board, we would fire the whole staff and start over, every time we have a bad game. Or, better yet, just drop the program. 01-wingedeagle

RE: Recap of post game interviews?
My only complaints about the game yesterday was the bone headed dive into the endzone that killed a touchdown and wasted time on the clock, and the play calling in the first 3 quarters.

It seems like we ran basically 3 plays, bubble screen left or right, run up the middle, and the delayed draw....

We finally got the ball moving in the 4th quarter when they started throwing down the field.

PL has a cannon for an arm and they need to let him use it.

Fuente manned up; I gotta give him credit.

At about the 6 minute mark, Fuente sums up the "non fumble" whistle call that denied the TIGERS a fumble recovery: "We have to earn the right to get 50-50 calls".

That sums it up nicely.

He knows it was a BS call, and a pathetic excuse from the refs. They quickly covered their theft incompetence questionable call with the early whistle, but there is not a damn thing that can be done about it. They knew it when they told Fuente it was an early whistle (it wasn't), and Fuente knew it was not challengeable. The refs knew it was the perfect crime, and they played it well at a key moment.

MEMPHIS will continue to get the lion's share of the BS calls until they start winning and earning respect.

That play happened close enough to me that i heard the whistle. I think it was an early whistle but one of the refs did blow the play dead right before the fumble.

One person said that. And they were likely kidding/drunk. The rest of us were simply unhappy with the effort and play yesterday (and only a blind homer could be okay with that game) and want to see some things done to address the obvious regression. The object is to win and when you are consistently losing, logic says you change some things in order to try to win. Doing the same things over and over that are only resulting in losses won't suddenly start to produce wins.

Yep, I completely believe in our coaches and the direction of the program. This was ONE game. It was a STINKER, especially the 1st half. Reminds me of how Arkansas St played against us. Sometimes, it's just not your day.

We need to be patient and supportive. We will eventually turn the corner, but it takes a long time to build a football program from the rubble that Fuente inherited. If the fans want a winner, they need to be in the stadium supporting the team - not giving up. Listen to what our recent basketball signees say when asked what they like about Memphis - it's the great support - 18K at a practice. Less than 18K at a football GAME is NOT going to impress recruits. Get your butt in the stands, make some noise, enjoy the good plays, endure the bad. EACH OF US can make a difference.

Fuente just gives you confidence that he knows what he is doing, and has a plan to fix our issues. Please don't let idiots run this guy off.

He's the guy. The question is are we the program. Pitiful attendance Saturday. This program will never be anything until the fans show up every week to watch the Tigers regardless of who the opponent is or what time the game is. That sure doesn't affect attendance at the BCS schools. Lame excuses.

Fuente knows what to do he just doesn't have the horses to do it with......yet.

Next season he should get the team to a bowl and the year after should become a real factor in the AAC.
