We apparently have a tragedy affecting EMU
http://www.mlive.com/news/ann-arbor/inde...igati.html

If my source is correct the deceased was an EMU student.

I don't want to say more about the deceased as the deceased's identity hasn't been released pending notification of next of kin.

I'll let the article speak for itself as to what is public knowledge.

Best to let EMU and the Ann Arbor News put out their statement.

Sad day for EMU and the EMU family. :(

EMU has confirmed it.

The deceased is Demarius Reed of our football team.

Man, I wouldn't want to be a football player trying to play tomorrow. That has got to be tough.

It would be nice if Ohio and EMU could postpone the game.

Dear Friends,
After looking at the roster, a Junior out of Chicago. What a waste. Any information on what he died from? So sorry for the Eastern community and his family.

My prayers are with family and maybe they should play the game to take the players mind off of this for a few hours.

RE: We apparently have a tragedy affecting EMU

The cause of death has been identified, gunshot wound.

EMU, and other universities, deserve credit for the e-mail systems which allows them to reach all of their students quickly to notify them of these type of events.

It also has the effect of dispelling rumors by getting official statements out in a timely manner.

Ann Arbor News in its early reporting did not indicate that the deceased was an EMU student or EMU athlete although his identity was believed to have been known immediately.

As soon as someone would have said "EMU (male) student athlete" family and friends of several hundred EMU male athletes would be in panic mode, could it be...

I wasn't planning on going to the game tomorrow, but if they're going to have a moment of silence or something like that, i'd like to be in attendance. If anyone hears about how they will honor Demarius tomorrow, please post it here.

this is miserable. my best to his family, friends and all of you on this board.
