Could the transfers also have to do with the fact that the playing in the B10 in 2014 means more travel time and less time with family? When these players signed the move was not known to them at the time they signed.

Shuler was a 4star WR and Thomas was a high 3 star WR (on rivals). Not sure if there is a log jam at WR at Rutgers, but those would appear to be big losses...

Travel from NJ not really much of a problem in the B1G. AAC takes Them to Florida and Texas. Much farther away. Most B1G games in Northern / Midwest quadrant.

Shuler was rated a 4* coming out of HS but he wasn't in the top 5 WRs. Then he got beat out by a true freshman for special teams duties. Thomas was playing and it will hurt short term, but the report that he is transferring to pursue baseball, which he didn't play in HS, tells me his heart wasn't into football.

As far as Page and Ayres transferring, well they weren't in the mix and seeing playing time going forward probably wasn't in the cards.

They latest two to leave weren't starters and apparently felt that they weren't moving up the depth chart as they would have liked to. This disappointment happens at all schools. The players then moves on else where.

The travel will actually be less. We will be in an eastern division. No travel to Fla, Tx and half of the South. It is sad to see kids quit like this. At least the new defections said that they are staying through the end of the season. The other kid walked in and flat out quit football. Still so far no main players have walked off. It has been all backups and part-time players.

Yes, players leave programs during the season (like UCF just had) and especially after the season is over...but no, stuff like this doesn't happen everywhere....as its very unusual for teams to lose THREE players in one week during the season.
