I'm not buying the "Breast Cancer awareness" argument here; more like "We're Oregon, we come up with the goofiest jerseys in sports, and this seems like a nice tie in and way to cash in."

Honestly, those pink helmets are more tasteful than some of garish uniforms that Adidas and Under Armour have been coming up with. I'm about as traditional as you can get in terms of uniform tastes (I like unis that look like they could have been designed in 1960), but Nike has the least crappy loud attention-getting uniforms.

No argument there. The NFL forks over $8.01 of every hundie it rakes in from this sham towards breast cancer research. Toss in that Susan G Komen foundation CEO (Nancy Brinker and $684k come to mind) pulling in a nice check six-digit and...you get the idea.

I had a great-grandmother who passed away from breast cancer three years before I was born...37 years and probably billions of warm and fuzzy dollars later...

Nothing has changed.

APB, any large charitable organization out there that raises a bunch of money for anything uses most of that money to fund the charitable organization. That's been a fact of life since the beginning. They don't advertise that fact. But you can find out the information easily enough, if you look for it. South Park satirized it with their episode about Starvin' Marvin...

There has been some very promising cancer research lately that gives hope that cancer may one day have an effective treatment. Have you read about Gold nanotechnology being used for cancer treatment? It's shown some great promise...

Well, in Oregon (and Knight's) defense, he has pledged $500 million dollars towards cancer research if Oregon can match it in other donations. The pink uniforms may be part of a plan to help them raise that cash.

If wearing these garish uniforms is really that important to recruits, why are the top 10 teams in recruiting every year still wearing traditional unis? It's called branding...and apparently Oregon's brand is that they don't have one.

I applaud the attention this brings to the cause, but we all know that is not the reason Oregon is rolling out Pepto Bismol helmets and shoes.

They are auctioning off the helmets after the game and giving the money to the charity. Many schools have traditional uniforms that haven't changed since they got rid of leather headgear. Oregon has never been one of those school with deep seeded traditions, the uniform changes have now become their tradition. It's nice to see a school that doesn't want to be like everybody else. That's why I like Oregon for their uniforms and Boise for their field. Individuals.

When he was at Iowa, Coach Hayden Frye had the visitor's locker room, showers, etc. painted pink.
