RE: temple fans
We have a post on the message board daily about our lack of attendance so I guess pretty poor. UCF may be ranked so that might get a decent crowd but I wouldn't expect a packed house for it.

When we went to tulane a few years ago they literally had 300-400 people in the stands (about 75 UCF fans, a couple hundred Tulane fans). We were able to sit wherever we wanted and could audibly hear the coaches, players, etc. on the field. Is this going to be a similar experience?

No, I hope not at least. Temple should get 15,000 minimum for it if not over 20,000 depending on how Temple and UCF are going, it just looks a lot worse since it's in a nfl stadium.

I will be going as well to the game against Temple. What are some of the recommended bars/food places in downtown Philly?

You're talking about one of the largest and best restaurant cities in the country. If you have a food and price preference I can narrow it down.

$10-$20 Price Range; Looking for American fare (hope a quality Philly Cheesesteak is on the menu). Also, what area are the best cheap bars?

Everyone will have a different opinion on cheesesteaks. They're really not a big deal despite their fame. The tourist places suck. The best recommendation is the roast pork and broccoli rabe at DiNic's in Reading Terminal Market.

American isn't really Philly's best offering. We have better ethnic food. For American, Village Whiskey, JG Domestic, Continental, Lemon Hill. For bars, I like Time and McGillin's. McGillin's is the oldest bar in Philly.

ive been to philly twice and had horrible cheese steaks from the tourist places like genos etc. Found a hole in the wall and had a tremendous cheese steak. I recommend finding the dirtiest, dumpiest place you can (shouldn't be hard in downtown philly) and you'll likely find the best cheese steak.

You cant ask for help and then troll like that. I'm sorry that Philly isn't a sterile wasteland like Orlando.

RE: temple fans
I'll give the guy a break. Philly has a rep as a dirty city. And parts of it still are, but huge sections of downtown are in great shape.

Most of the core of the city is in revival mode. While not quite NYC or Boston, it's closer to those cities all the time. And by that I mean in the super hip bars, restaurants and such. But it's still a big city with high poverty, high crime and bad sections.

It's not amazing or anything but right near the stadium is a complex of themed bars http://xfinitylive.com/

It's a handy meeting spot for before and after games.

So are NYC and Chicago. Hell, Seattle is known as a very clean city and there are some very dangerous areas.

orlando is dirty too. Don't take it personal some temple fans are so sensitive. NY and Boston are very dirty and chicago might be the dirtiest city in america. I like all three though and love philly as well.

Some of the Houston fans were asking for cheap food and bar options too...doesn't make sense to me personally to travel all that way and then not check out some of Philly's nicer restaurants ($35-40 range) but I will not judge..

It's hard to give you recommendations without knowing what you like and some bars might be great one night and kind of dead another, so I offer you this list with that in mind.

One of my favorite cheaper bars in Center City is Oscar's...it's a cool dive in the middle of downtown Philly. Locust Rendevous is another good one.

Not sure where it fits on this list but Milk Boy is pretty cool.

If you want some more happening but pricier in Center City, Sugar Mom's, National Mechanics...sad to say it because I hate the place but a lot of people enjoying go to Fado. Some people would recommend TIME and McGillan's but they are crowded and kind of "bro"-ish like Fado.

Some different suggestions: Trestle Inn (go-go Whiskey bar), Frankford Hall (might be too cold) or Johnny Brenda's in Fishtown area. Around South Philly Cantina or POPE (hipster/punk vibe), or my current favorite bar Dolphin. Have yet to bring someone there that didn't love it

If you're coming to the game.. .keep in mind that Temple's home side is opposite of normal. It's done so the crowd looks better on TV. So don't order tickets in sections 120-121 unless you want to sit with us.. We won't hurt you but it's probably more fun to sit with your own fans.

A cheesesteak is not a delicacy.. it's supposed to be nasty with Cheez Wiz and bad steak. The greasier the better.
