Miami might be Top 25, but they're not Top 10. Anyone who thinks Miami is back to what they once were (long ago) is clueless.

You (actually we all say this) say that but every season some Top 10 barely squeaks by a "crummy" team. UNC was wildly overrated preseason but they do have some players and the HFA was pretty good last night. UNC has played a tough schedule and while not Top 25 they are probably Top 50. I do agree that Miami isn't a national title contender but I'm not ready to write them off for the Top 10...if they finish with 2 or less losses they will be there.

UNC certainly didn't play like a 1-5 team. If you look at their schedule I can actually see them winning another 5 games.
They finish up the year with BC, NC State, Va, Pitt, ODU???? and Duke.
Miami is another year or two away from being top 10 material IMHO.

RE: Tonight Miami gets the "eye" test
I'm not ready to say Miami is a perennial top-10 program. They are doing well this year but that could be a spike or it could be a real upward progression.

Being ranked #10 does not mean you are the 10th best team in the country. Polls are based on opinions, NOT FACTS. In the opinions of the people that vote in that poll, Miami came out #10.

I think UNC made a great showing, especially considering they only have 64(?) scholarship players. They had a very good shot at winning that game. That is about as good as it gets in year 2 of a coach, coming off sanctions, etc.

RE: Tonight Miami gets the "eye" test
I know that UNC has a couple of good players, but I also watched ECU spank UNC in Chapel Hill.

Miami was what I thought they were...overrated.

Florida is not that good this year...(hell, were they good last year, really?)...and that squeak out win at home against Florida did little to convince me.

I see no reason why Miami should be ranked ahead of Texas Tech, Baylor, Missouri...and I have high doubts that Miami is better than Fresno or NIU. They looked terrible...and UNC's defense is not good. Miami should have won that game by 25 points if they are a Top 10 team.

Don't forget that UNC's players are now actually having to go to class after the University's vast fake class program was discovered - that's a new development for some of those players.

Dude this is college football and what makes it so great. Week to week there could be tons of surprises. Yes ECU spanked UNC in Chapel Hill because the Heels took them for granted. Just like Oklahoma took Texas for granted and got crushed. Just like Stanford took Utah for granted and got beat. It happens.

Miami always struggles in Chapel Hill. Going into last night, they were 1-4 all time. It's just one of those things. Miami might not be top 10 at the end of the year, but they've done more than Texas Tech, Baylor, Fresno State and NIU. Missouri has a gripe but they started the season very low. Florida may put an end to that tomorrow anyway.

Missouri is likely to send Florida packing...and finally get them out of the polls where they belong.

So the reason ECU spanked UNC is because the Heels took them for granted? No, its because UNC is a 1-5 team. UNC can't beat anyone and even against an overrated team last night in a position to win at home, they squandered it away.

Miami is going to a lose probably 3 games this season, and may or may not be ranked at all by the end. In season rankings are meaningless and Miami is not the #11 team.

I don't think Miami would beat UCF.

Debatable...UCF doesn't exactly have a history of beating P5 teams with winning records.

Let us see how they do tonight.

Mark, USF didn't have a history of beating big name teams with winning records until they started doing it. It's a pity the Bulls couldn't build on that. But these things happen...

What does history have to do with this team, this year? Didn't they just go to Penn State and win...and aren't they a winning team?

Am I the only one that's a tad bummed for USF when it comes to how they've developed? I mean, they have plenty going for 'em but it seems they never can turn that corner. It's unreal.

Not me. I always thought UCF had more to offer any conference longer term than USF anyway. UCF invested in on campus stadium which always creates a more active/passionate fanbase, UCF has a significantly larger student enrollment, there is no local NFL team to compete with, on and on.

The USF callup to the Big East was always a head scratcher to me...but then again so were most of the decisions made by the Big East.

That is their first ever...let's wait and see if Penn State finishes with a winning record. It is a decent win as Penn State is a MOR team in the B1G.

Lol at this whole anti-Miami thread.
Three things I do know: 1) Miami will ALWAYS be CFB's most hated team, 2) good teams find ways to win, and 3) last time I checked, 6-0 is still 6-0... You may proceed with your "Miami is overrated" discussion...
