obviously the better team. have been the last 3 years.

consecutive 9 win seasons iirc.

much like i've said about south al the cajuns are potential powder kegs in football. you're in a football crazy state in fertile rich recruiting territory.

western had a shot in that game and anyone that believes different is an idiot. petrino is trying to implement parts of his offense without a qb capable of it. he said he made a bad call on the pick 6 but i'm guessing he's used to having guys not make that decision.

that one play completely changed the game but it was still a game until the first drive of the second half. i turned the game off and was not surprised at all by the final score this morning.

good luck to the cajuns the rest of the way. the toppers can bounce back or quit. they quit last year after the ulm loss.

i'm on record on my board as saying the future sbc is gonna be a better football conference than the one we're heading to. our move was made for hoops and perception and sometimes you just need change.

i'll follow the cajuns after we're gone since i've met some of the fans.

i'm not about to wade into the rest of the game threads as i'm sure of what's in 'em. just wanted to congratulate my known amigos. the trash talkers...you know what you can do.

Well done Beed.....the whole post is spot on....I hate that this series is over.....starting to get that rivalry edge to it for both players and fans.....maybe we will end up together down the road.....can't wait for our basketball series....take care.

Classy post for what had to have been a tough loss. You can be proud that the Hilltoppers came to play and really I thought we might get blown up after that first quarter. Then some really strange things happened. I hope to see WKU in a bowl game at the end of the season. You guys do have a good team. You know if you guys were in CUSA right now I think you might have run the table on those teams. Good luck!04-rock

RE: congrats cajuns
This may sound odd but it does make sense.

Last night to me was an interesting contrast in coaching styles. No I don't mean the "in a vacuum" what a coach wants to do if things are cooking right, but rather a contrast in what you do when things aren't going the way you want.

Petrino last night (and in the other games I've seen) has a philosophy much like Nolan Richardson had when he arrived at Arkansas. "I know what I want to do, I don't have the players to do what I want to do but if I'm ever going to recruit the guys I need, I have to remain true to my philosophy rather than compromise to get another win or two because those changes will hurt when the prospects I need watch us play." Petrino did much the same at Arkansas and struggled year one.

Hud on the other hand is clearly playing to win the conference. He assessed the flow of the game and went with the strategy that maximized his opportunity to win. I doubt from what I've seen of him that 12 passes and 52 runs or whatever it was is his ideal but once that mix started working that became that night's definition of Hud ball.
