Now you see why the Democrats wanted to get a blank check before the midterms.

And when 99.5% of them figure out that it didn't affect them in any material way, what then?

Frankly, unless you are a veteran or wanted to go to a national park, you probably weren't affected in any way. And you're not going to get the veteran vote.

It hasn't directly effected me but then again as with so many things it's really not about me it's about society.

Usually when the left over exaggerates this way they are on the losing end.

If the Democrats feel they have political cover they will over reach & the pendulum will swing back. Trust me I'm old. I've seen both sides claim "permanent" majorities only to be swept out of power.

I'm serious as a heart attack. Politics is rough and tumble today just as it's always been and will be as long as human nature is what it is

Which brings me to the next question.

Why were any of those things, or benefits to the families of fallen soldiers, deemed "non-essential" when Jay Carney and congressional staffers and fat cat bureaucrats were deemed "essential"?

I think reupublicans' best chance is to run against the excesses of Washington. Only problem is that if they win, then they have to fix those things. And nobody on either side wants that.
