ESPNU coverage of ACC media days
Thing it begins today at 1 PM ET. It will be on ESPN3 if you have a phone/work place that has access. I believe there is a panel discussion show with ACC coaches for a half hour this afternoon as well.

I think ESPN is definelty trying to build up the whole Best Basketball Conference ever thing. They have asked almost every player what do you think of the new amazing ACC? Also I think boston college is a real deal type of team this year

RE: ESPNU coverage of ACC media days
I'm wondering why all the basketball fans haven't complained yet about Swofford mentioning football at the basketball media days:
Atlantic Coast Conference
#ACC Commissioner John Swofford: In football, this is the 1st time 3 ACC teams have started 5-0 & ACC is only league w/ 3 undefeated teams remaining #ACCMediaDay

Have to wonder if they are making TOO big a deal of it. I'm still not convinced the league will see an immediate return to its glory years in the 80s and 90s.
I think it will take at least three years for the synergy of the new with the old to raise the tide high enough to get former decent programs back to where they used to be.
In the meantime, by taking this approach, if the league doesn't succeed immediately it will get some negative backlash from the media.
Cheers,
Neil

You're probably right of course, but perception has little to do with reality, even in hoops...particularly the regular season where ESPN owns all the games.

I think it can be similar to how the SEC works in football, I honestly don't believe Auburn and Mizzou are top 25 and top 15 teams but because they best lower opponents and have that SEC logo affiliated with them they are ranked. Say Miami or Boston College started 10-0 or something but didn't play someone overwhelming they could potentially be ranked just cuz they are ACC.

Miami will finish 4-8th this year and go to the NCAA tournament again, I do believe.

==========
As for the ACC being overhyped and it needing a few years to figure itself out? The top 5 or 10 or whatever schools will be better than any other conferences regardless of whether or not there has been time for the conference's new basketball strength to have a funnel-down effect in recruiting and program-building at the less-than-great programs.
