I don't recall the exact game, probably about 1972-73 (my brother was attending) at Rice Stadium. I was about 9 and mostly remember meeting the players on the field after the game and having Rodrigo Barnes give me his sweaty chinstrap as a souvenir which I thought was really neat.

The next one I remember more vividly because it was the 1977 UT-Rice game in Austin where Russell Erxleben kicked his 77-yard field goal; I think that was when I decided to go to Texas...but I've always rooted for Rice as long as they are not playing Texas!

Thanks for starting this thread, I really enjoy reading it.

My first game was in October 1989, against Texas A&M at Rice Stadium. I was a senior in high school, and had applied early decision to Rice. My sister was a senior at A&M, and I sat with her and a ton of other Aggies in the upper deck.

I don't remember much about the game itself (looked it up, we lost 45-7), but I definitely remember being caught up in the energy of the crowd and, especially, the Aggie yells. A great introduction to college football.

yes, 67...Typos are almost as bad as Microsoft auto-complete. Still the most impressive FG I've ever seen, and even if they did use a tee in those days...
