"Heart of Dallas: Rice vs. Iowa"

I like this one. Good excuse for my son and two grandsons from Des Moines to come visit.

03-lol

Tulane plays @Florida Atlantic on November 2
@UTSA on November 9
@Rice on November 30

Let's see how those 3 games turn out.

There is a 0% chance that if we are bowl eligible we would not be in the HoD Bowl.

So SBnation thinks MT is going to the Poinsettia Bowl where we do not have a contract but no one is going to the HofD bowl where we do?

Hoping that North Texas gets the Heart of Dallas Bowl and that it's vs Iowa. A team we will also be playing in future OC games. An interesting side note for the bowl; the legendary Hayden Fry coached at North Texas and then at Iowa

I'd love to see Tulane play in the Military Bowl (right in my backyard) vs. an ACC school.

Winning the conference is the real goal, however.

All about regional location... Tulane is too far for them to go to that bowl.

Would Tulane's administration/fans want to play somewhere besides their home turf? I would imagine that as a reward, you'd want to play in a different locale, but I don't know.

The main and only reason that the New Orleans Bowl will try to take Tulane will be so that they can set up their dream matchup...

...UL-Lafayette vs. Tulane in the Superdome.

That game would draw a significant crowd - we're talking 40-45k in the actual seats - as people from all across the state would attend. There are even LSU fans living in NO that have said "frick it, I'm going if it's Tulane vs. ULL".

It would be a great bowl event for the locals - although it would NOT draw tourism dollars as Tulane and ULL alumni won't behave like out-of-state alumni will.

I can't speak for Tulane, but as a Marshall fan... anytime we could have another home game, I would be down for it... especially in a dome in the winter.

Absolutely. We don't want to play in the NOLA bowl against a sunbelt team if we can avoid it.
We'll see how it plays out.

NOLA bowl has been wanting Tulane in that bowl for years, regardless of ULL. And ULL is really the only team that brings fans to that bowl.
Now whether we want that bowl is a different question; I would think/hope not.

The Tulane/USL matchups of the 1983-1990 era always drew about 35-40k. Not just "tickets sold" but actual attendance.

I can only imagine how many actual people would be in the Dome for a Tulane vs. ULL NOLA bowl match up. Oh my.

Easily the highest attended NO Bowl (for the 3rd straight year). 50,000+

Almost 50,000 last year. I believe that a Tulane Green Wave vs. Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns matchup would break 60,000....
