NFL updates
No one in Houston will be talking about Rice football (or UH football for that matter). Texans down 31-6 to St. Louis in the 3rd quarter.

I noticed James Casey was inactive for the Eagles today. I don't believe it's injury related.

RE: NFL updates
At this point why not play Keenum next week? Schaub and Yates are very similar QBs, at least Keenum's a bit of a different style could maybe kick-start the offense with some different looks.

Make that 38-6. Another pick 6, but not Schaub this time, but Yates.

I guess they want to be in the JFF sweepstakes

Yates throws another pick in the redzone on a horrible decision. Way past Keenum time.

Thought I read groin injury. He's been questionable all week.

Correct:.

Quote:With the Eagles dressing three QBs for the first time this season -- this is rookie Matt Barkley's first activation -- tight end James Casey is inactive. Casey was listed as questionable with a groin injury, and the Eagles opted not to activate their remaining tight end, Emil Igwenagu. They will have only Brent Celek and Zach Ertz available.

RE: NFL updates
Sean Payton did the Bailiff equivalent of 'play not to lose' and it blew-up on him today. Feel for Saints..got stops but high octane offense went into the bunker and kept giving Patriots the ball back and multiple chances. Great film for all coaches to watch on downside of conservative play calling w/ a lead..

The Saints have zero run game and should have never tried to put the game away on the ground

RE: NFL updates
Saints fan here, started reading these last few comments before finishing the game on DVR. Brutal end to the game, can't believe how many chances the Saints gave Brady. Frustrating part was that if you are going with the clock-burning strategy, run it every damn time and depend on your defense. If not, then run your normal offense and go for points. The middle ground seems to be the real loser.

RE: NFL updates
The big mistake by the Saints was the pass on 3rd down before the FG. If they run the ball there, they force NE to take their final time out, or else they take it down to the 2-minute warning. Then if they pick Brady off, the game is essentially over. NE may force the punt and have a hail Mary opportunity, but that's about it.

Yep, and the throw the went with is pretty low-percentage, even for Brees/Colston. Would have preferred a high% throw to Sproles or a screen to Thomas if they really had a burning desire to throw. I did like the Brees naked bootleg run call before they punted, even though it didn't work.
