Don't give up on a season after the first weekend ... there's a reason that the Fighting Irish hockey team was ranked #8 pre-season, after all.

Now, if the Broncos are still winless after next weekend's Alaska trip and hosting Colorado College the week after that, you'd be well within your rights to panic. But early days yet ~ for one, its the conference games that are most critical for making and seeding in the conference tournament, and for another, a #18 ranked school doesn't have to beat every top-10 school in every game they play to get an at-large bid to the NCAA regionals in ice hockey.

I was thinking more about football, then this weekend comes along and we get blanked in football and both hockey games. Just needing a tiny shred of good news in Broncoland soon.

I know why you were saying it, but don't transfer mid-FB season to the absolute start of the hockey season.

At least you got a top-20 hockey team that's starting to play ... I'd not be surprised if some Kent fans may poised to lapse back into "play for the Wagon Wheel and wait for BBall season" mode again, with the Flashes needing to go 4-1 the rest of the season to have an outside chance of going bowling.

(Though since ice hockey is the only sport where I'm likely to cheer for my alma mater, the fact that Kent doesn't play hockey makes for less conflict for me.)
