Unless we pull something amazing at Auburn, expect equal attendance to last season the rest of the way this year.

And there is no gaurantee, there are NO gimme's no matter how bad the team.

That's a good question. Unless he was really convinced we were going to get a safety, no difference being up 1 or 2.

Marshall has to look no further than last year to understand what you are going through.

Marshall lost 5 games by 10 points or less last year:

Losses
Ohio 27-24
Purdue 51-41
Tulsa 45-38
UAB 38-31
ECU 65-59

I think that FAU is out of the hole. Its a learning process now.

I was totally shocked he passed the ball on third down with two minutes left. A run, even one that doesn't get the first down, would've put the game away.

That's a good question. Unless he was really convinced we were going to get a safety, no difference being up 1 or 2.

They were up 8. The extra point puts you up 2 scores. That was the right call. Passing on 3rd down was not. Then again, if FAU's safety can wrap up the QB for a sack, it's all a moot point. FAU's in a frustrating point in our development. They are much better and SO close to being a very good team, but small things are killing us. We are heading in the right direction. Blaming the coaches is so silly. Has the staff made some bad calls? Sure, every coach does. But ultimately, if the kicker misses a extra point, or a TE drops a sure TD in the endzone, what exactly would you like the coach to do?

Soon the tide will turn and these crushing defeats will pay off with wins. If you look past the loses, you can see FAU is right on the cusp of being near the top of this conference.

It's not the right call with 6min To go if there was 2 to three you go up by 9 and make it two scores.

What? We were up 8...kicking the extra point puts you up 2 scores. You are assuming they make the 2 point conversion, which is hardly a sure thing. Going up by 2 scores on the more certain play was the right call. You can't assume that just because they go for 2 that they'll make it.

I'm saying when there is 6 min to go you have to make it a 10 point game as a couch you always have to assume the worse.
If there was 2 or 3 to go I say ok make it 9 becuase it becomes hard to score twice.

You are wrong, but I'm tired of repeating myself. Bottom line...You go up 2 scores whenever you can. Time remaining is meaningless. Kicking the extra point is a much higher percentage play in that spot to put you up 2 scores. I know you are going to disagree, so whatever...but I'm right!

With a 41 yard TD pass to Gator Hoskins in the 4th quarter tonight, Cato extended his streak of consecutive games with a TD pass to 24.

Well if all you want to do is go off the result, then there is no point in having a discussion.

You can make the right call and have it not work out...that doesn't make the logic behind the decision wrong.

RE: Marshall @ FAU game thread
I'm not understanding the argument. You were leading 16-14 and scored a TD to make it 22-14. At that point you are up 8, so you can not lose to a single score. Worst outcome is a tie with a two point conversion which has a 45% success rate. If you kick the extra point you go up by 9. Nine is kind of a useless number as the other team's most likely additional points is 6, 7 or 10. No difference between 8 and 9 in two of those scenarios.

I know you can make an argument for the 9, I just think it's a little conservative against an offense, that even though they were playing crappy, is proven to be explosive.

Kicking the extra point is the right call in that situation.

FAU didn't lose because they took a 9 point lead - they lost because they let Marshall score twice without an offensive answer.

It's just frustrating seeing teams make similar mistakes that we make, but get away with them.
