He seemed more effective under Pastners coaching.

He may have been, time will tell.

3 minutes, 3 fouls and nothing else in Kansas' loss to Colorado on Saturday.

2 minutes, 2 TOs, no points, 1 foul in Kansas' win over New Mexico.
You gotta wonder if he's just phoning it in at this point.

RE: For those interested in how Tarik Black is doing
I wonder if something happened along these lines: his dad, along with others, were in his ear about playing time, getting fed the ball, etc. Tarik may have been happy in the beginning but this constant negativity soured him and he began to drag others down. Coach told him to knock it off and it reached a head when he walked out of practice.
Deep down, maybe he really wanted to be here but everybody who wanted a piece of him kept telling him he needed to leave. In an effort to have things the way he thought he wanted them he gave Pastner an ultimatum and CJP said goodbye.
At Kansas he tried to get in shape, do all the right things, but realized that he really did not want to be there, that he should never have left Memphis in the first place and that all the experts he'd been listening to were really idiots who just wanted something from him. (Like taking financial advice from your broke Uncle Larry instead of a successful entrepreneur) Once he realized how homesick he was it became a matter of just wanting it all over with.
I am so far removed from Tarik that he wouldn't know me from Adam, these are just thoughts based on distant observation.

Sounds feasible. In any case, there are, undoubtedly, a few with investment plans that are now worthless.

The first red flag was his announcement he was leaving. He was wearing his Memphis gear and even had a poster with pics and Memphis Tigers stuff on it. Jason Smith told him "it looks like your signing with the Tigers, not leaving."

I always saw that differently. Looked like someone gave him advice that it may help soften the blow for his eventual return to Memphis and post-college business endeavors. Of course, I have no idea what was going on.
