Think about it....
Did you notice who Obama threatened when he wasn't getting his way on raising the debt ceiling? He threatened not to pay:
- Social Security Retirees
- Military Retirees
- Social Security
- Disability
and
-Federal Retirees.

Now let this sink in really well...
- He did not threaten to stop payments to illegal aliens.
- He did not threaten to take frivolous benefits such as Internet access away from violent inmates.
- He did not offer to fire some of the thousands of unnecessary federal employees that he hired.
- He did not offer to cut down on his or his wife's frivolous gallivanting around--- $20 Million already spent on family vacations. (One Million on a FL golf outing). All our money...why not?
- He didn't threaten farm subsidies.
- He did not threaten not to pay the senators and representatives or any of their staff.
- He did not threaten to take benefits away from welfare recipients or to stop the free cell phones they get.
- He did not threaten the food stamp programs.
- He did not threaten to reduce payments in foreign aid.
- He did not threaten to cut back on anything that involves his base voters.
- The list could go on and on. He is in full political mode!

He'd never threaten his people, just the ones against him. He's the epitome of a low life buzzard.

I see what you are trying to do here, and I do not disagree that the Obama Administration is engaged in full on political theater, but your list is wrong.

Quote:He did not threaten to cut back on anything that involves his base voters.

I'd posit that a Democrats have a huge base in retirees on Social Security, and Democrats have probably cornered the market on everyone collecting Social Security disability payments. And federal Government employees and retirees give overwhelmingly to Democrats.

And I say again, who is running this guy's political team? On the first day of the shutdown President Obama should have immediately cancelled all his trips, and told Michelle to stick to the White House garden. That's how politics is done, but this Administration is the most tone-deaf in recent memory.

True and agree. He has missed so many opportunities to play politics in a positive way and instead he plays them in a negative one...

When talking about budget cuts, you don't let your wife vacation in Europe... you go to Disney World or Colorado or California. Europe will still be there after he is out of office and as a parent of kids who traveled to Europe when they were 10-13, I would be MUCH happier and they would appreciate it much more now that they're 20.

He did the same thing with the sequester.

Your point is correct that he "hurts" some of his base... but that is because he knows it also riles them up and gets them active to put pressure on people to fix it, and Democrats blame Republicans, not Obama.

His tactics are designed to make things hurt people... which is precisely why public employees shouldn't be allowed to strike. Obama is using strike tactics against the people while Republicans and Democrats just jockey for position to see who gets MORE positive when it all works out

Well, I've been to one world fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and that's the stupidest thing I ever heard come over a set of earphones.

How many vacations has he gone on since the shutdown started? He cancelled his trip to Asia, in case you didn't notice.

What "payments to illegal aliens" are you talking about?

It's unconstitutional to stop paying members of Congress. Remember that pesky thing, the Constitution? It also says it's the Congress that passes the budget. ACES!

Are those the old ones not at work but being paid or the young ones at work, not working, being paid or the young ones not at work being paid?
