A .500 record is definitely subpar for the field hockey team. I hope that whatever is ailing the team we find the cure and get back to being a perennial national contender. Not knowing what is going on, I wish Coach Lucas the best and hope that she made the right decision for all involved.

This was surprising, given the stature of our FH program. Best of luck to the team.

Kind of shocking she didn't even finish the season after being here since '04. Wonder if something was going on behind the scenes/personal stuff or if she left because of the dropoff. Leaving in the middle of the season like that just seems strange. Good luck to her and a big thanks for all she did for the program and for JMU.

Sorry to hear this and quite surprising. We do have some good talent though and hope we can turn it around. Beat of luck to coach Lucas as well.

It's all because she found out the FBS conference we're going to doesn't sponsor field hockey.

Just kidding, I have no idea.

Field hockey coach "resigns" after 1/2 of a .500 season, which is "subpar for the field hockey team" according to some people. Football coach has been mediocre at best since 2008 and is "untouchable" in some people's eyes. Makes perfect sense.

Please choose your words carefully about this situation as it has not been said what happened. The Richmond Times reported it was a personal issue. I can only hope everything is ok with Antoinette and her loved ones.

In my opinion Antoinette had her work cut out for her and has done a great job turning the program around in the time she has had. Christy Morgan left a nationally recognized program and Antoinette picked up a a train wreck. She has worked to get recruiting standards back up and it has shown through results and work ethic. This year may not have been panning out to be successful, but every team has their ups and downs.

I thank Antoinette for coming in when the program needed it most and for her 9 years at JMU. Hoping Jeff Borne can get it right with her replacement unlike he did in 2000. History proves it takes years to turn around poor coaching and recruiting.

Yeah, and they definitely have some talent to work with there. I had looked forward to sending my daughter to her camp this summer, so it will be interesting to see who they replace her with.

Great gal. I had the honor of playing golf with her several times at Duke Club events. She always represented the university well. Sorry to see her go.
