Memphis Heat? It had a limited theatrical in and around Memphis, but was straight to DVD for the most part. It's pretty good though.

Has to be good, thanks for the info, I'll see if I can find it on line

I downloaded it from Amazon. Very good and well worth the price. I had never seen Billy Wicks wrestle but I had always heard about his epic battles with Sputnik Monroe. Glad to finally see him in an interview.

Agree. It's VERY good. We saw it the second night at Studio on the Square.

I was at the MSC for a Monday night show, and me and some friends were young, and drunk, and having fun, and I was giving Dutch Mantell all kinds of hell. He lost his match and I was going off on him from ringside, he stopped, looked right at me and said, "How about you and I compare W2's ..." and then he walked off, and my friends fell out laughing.

I was at a match in the 70's, between Lawler and I believe Terry Funk. Friend of ours got up about mid match, started walking for what we thought was another beer, then turns down one of the ringside aisles and runs and jumps in the ring. Both wrestlers stopped and turned on him, pummeled him for just a few seconds, threw him out of the ring and jumped him there again for a few seconds. Whole thing didn't last 15 seconds. Broken nose, forearm, a few ribs, collarbone, and maybe his leg. Dumbas$.

at least that wasn't the infamous no crowd MSC match between the two.....

"Me EYE. My EYE. Oh God, my EYE." Poor Terry.

I've sort of done the whole circle in the only 3 matches I've attended....Ellis Auditorium for Wicks VS Sputnik, MSC for Lawler VS Valiant, and some WWE special that my son wanted to see. Lawler VS Valiant had a Memphis/Louisville electric feel to it.

When The Pyramid opened and they had the first WWF (or whatever it was then) event, 21,000 strong, I was working for the catering department and was working backstage. I literally ran into The Undertaker right before he was to come out for his match. I ran into a lot of celebrities in all my years of working at The Coliseum and The Pyramid, he was the only one who ever scared me.

Other than the time Handsome Jimmy punked me into playing the wrong intro music for Lawler. I thought Lawler was going to kill me.

That is my favorite clip. We found that a few years ago and I've watched it about 100 times, but I still laugh each time. You are right...it is classic Memphis wrestling that sums it all up.

"Somebody tell this guy in Mexican to get out of here!"

Dirty Dutch was on the same flight with me from Nashville to Chicago a few months ago. He is back in the WWE now as a manager.

My dad worked at channel 5 when I was a kid and we used to watch from the control room. Took those boxes of candy that every school sold for a fundraiser down there and the wrestlers bought it all up. Fat ass Buddy Wayne bought 5 or 6 bars. Once we were sitting in the lobby by the desk and the Moondogs came thru there bones and all. Scared the crap out of us.

My wife's grandfather was a Memphis Fireman and knew the wrestlers from working at MSC. He used to go meet Valiant for breakfast at the McDonalds in G-town a lot. Took her once when she was about 6 and she said Handsome gave her the creeps.

I love the old wrestling videos on Youtube. The shoot interviews are even better!
