Troy University receiver Eric Thomas makes the winning touchdown catch, despite being mugged by a South Alabama defender, with 7 seconds left to play in the South Belt Conference game between the Trojans and Jaguars on Homecoming at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy, Ala. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013. Troy recovered from a tipped ball, which resulted in a USA touchdown with 48 seconds to play, to win the game 34-33. Thomas is the NCAA's top touchdown receiver with pay dirt catches in seven consecutive games. Photo copyright 2013 Bob Markey II / http://www.MarkeySportsPhoto.com — at Memorial Stadium.

RE: "The Catch" and more photos from Troy vs. South Alabama
I don't blame Troy fans for relishing this moment. It was a great game and ended in an incredible W for the Trojans.

I've been a Jag fan since the days when Troy was in the Division II Gulf South Conference and the SBC was a non-football league of 6 (later 8) teams. The loss on Saturday is one of the bitterest pills I've had to swallow in all that time.

Even so, the fact that South is already beating teams like WKU (4-2) and Tulane (4-2) and is taking a game at Troy to the closing seconds tells me that the Jags will take more than their share of victories in this rivalry in the years to come. Looking forward to it!
