Dont know if any of you saw this already, but It looks really nice. What happened was the hill in between the ISAT parking lot and I81 was failing, and so they decided to excavate, build a nice retaining wall, and use it to place a nice James Madison University sign. I drive 81 through campus everyday, and have always felt that the school needed some kind of nice signage other than the green street sign marker on the bridge. I say, way to turn an eyesore into a nice ad. 75,000 cars a day pass that sign now!

Looks awesome! I didn't end up driving by today after all so thanks for posting it!

I rode by yesterday and I noticed there is conduit running to each letter that then connect to a panel on the bottom right. That is a new addition that I haven't seen before and is not visible on the picture. I am thinking that means there will be lights behind each letter. Don't know this for sure, but make sure if you happen to drive by at night, try to look for it.

It will be lit. They are working on it now.

now if they can just do that interstate bypass as has been proposed in the past....we'll be all set.

So this is completely different than the 33 bypass that's almost finished? I don't really see the need for the interstate bypass...

They need to put up the logo with the Duke Dog standing on top of JMU on each side of the sign.

huge purple paw prints on the interstate coming into town, southbound and northbound, all lanes, maybe some rabies drool for effect. do it. do it now.

Throughout Fairfax there are Mason logos painted on the roads. Some are even a couple miles away from the campus.

It would be nice to see some JMU paw prints on main street going right by the quad...or maybe even downtown.

I think we should petition VDOT to paint the emergency lanes, of I-81 running through JMU, purple.

I have always thought that JMU doesn't take advantage enough of really branding itself along the portion of I-81 that runs through campus. I love that the stadium is visible from the highway but it would be neat to have a presence on or near the highway that made people know this was JMU country.

Wishful thinking I guess.
