The officiating hurt, but....
We threw int's in the endzone to end the half and the game....heartbreaking.

We left a LOT of points on the field for sure. The game could have easily ended with a similar score to Ark St, with the same result.

I see a lot of promise in Paxton but he made some bad decisions tonight too. The intentional grounding...having to burn 2 TO's on playclock issues. Gotta get that stuff under control, and he will.

You are ignoring the dropped TD before the pick. But those with an agenda tend to do that.

And throw TD's on those two plays instead of int's and it isn't an issue.

Basically I am saying the refs aren't the reason that we lost the game. I'm pissed about it...but they are human too. Prone to mistakes. When I used to ref basketball I would tell the guys before the games that I won't get 100% of the calls and they won't make 100% of their shots.

IMO, this was Paxton's worse game this season. But still not terrible. And he wasn't responsible for the last play. He never looked comfortable back there today.

I look it as its 17-17 our ball at the like what 30? 35? with two minutes? We easily drive down field and win?

We've had dropped balls all year. Do you think it is getting better, worse, or simply staying the same?

Turnovers seem to be getting worse. That may be simply from giving the QB more freedom.

Disagree. I'd say the 1st half was very bad and it lingered into the 3rd quarter. He was phenomenal in the 4th.

We need our receivers to help Paxton out. He made some bad decisions, but they were usually preceded upon a dropped pass that put us into a position in the first place. There's no reason to call a play that is a long route to the end zone, only to have the play and pass perfectly executed, and dropped. It's easy to get in third and long in those cases, and that's where a freshman can make some bad decisions. We need to keep him out of those scenarios as much as possible this year.

Where you and I look at it different then is you focus on one single call as what made the game. I've given examples of several that could have had just as big impact...your specific focused play is magnified and you seemingly think it is the reason for the loss. We dropped some deep bombs, dropped two int's on their game tying drive, gave up a 4th and 10 on the game tying drive....I can keep going.

I'm accepting no "but's" for this game. We had some mistakes, including some young QB mistakes, but if the refs hadn't totally screwed us on more than one call, we would not have needed those end-of-game heroics.

No, this one is on the refs. BIG TIME. The officiating COST us this game.

Yes yes I know.... But when a ref kinda dictates whether it will be Memphis ball on the 30 with 2 minutes left or a 24-17 UCF victory sucks

I'm guessing he means ref call not play call.

RE: The officiating hurt, but....
camaro: please, post some video of those controversial calls. I'd like to see those again.

(1) Although I thought Warford fumbled the return, I thought that that hit may have been illegal.

(2) I thought the UCF runner was down before he fumbled the ball into the endzone on their final drive. It probably wouldn't have mattered with them being on the 1 yard line.

(3) I'd also like to see if there was a holding on Craig's return. We may not have seen anything, but it is pretty common for those penaties to occur away from the ball in those situations.

Bottom line for me was that the officiating was good for most of the game and that none of the penalties really cost us. I think Lynch's mistakes in the first half were bad but he played great in the second half.

I saw an experienced winner in UCF make plays in the end to take the W. I'm hopeful that the Tigers will get to that point - I think they're close because based on what I saw the last two games, they're getting really good. They will learn how to win games in the end - it just takes experience.

UCF made mistakes and Memphis made mistakes so that's a wash. The refs went in pee wee mode the last 2 minutes and it cost us the game.

RE: The officiating hurt, but....
I watched the replay several times.

Warford head snapped back violently, he collapsed to the ground, the ball was actually "pushed" out of his hands while on his back.

1. Helmet to Helmet - VIOLATION resulting in 7 pts lead.
2. On His Back On Ground - NO FUMBLE.

That play gave the game to UCF. Period.

Without that play, we would have either:

A. Marched down field and kicked winning Field Goal (Probably)
or
B. Went to OT tied. Anybody's game.
