I would not be surprised to see a special BOV meeting called after the faculty meeting with Carr. That is speculation on my part. Don't book anything.

Per the link - October 25th although they indicate comments always welcome.

Please, don't waste money on that guy. He has yet to win anywhere with his players (richmond or UVA). Good guy, but a BAD COACH. UVA had to hire Tom O'Brien as an associate head coach to basically babysit London to protect him from himself on game days.

I wouldn't worry about that. I can't remember the last time JMU hired a coach in basketball or football after they failed elsewhere. Even Keener was part of a program that had gone to the Final Four. They seem to not be intrigued by guys who have not won at their prior job...at least as far as head coaches.

Dillard had a pretty mediocre record before hire, albeit with deep JMU roots. Plus it's been a while since we have hired a football coach. The point I take from your comment is that the AD tends to take the 'safer' route vs. looking for an up and comer. I recall that VCU basically advertised that a position there was a stepping stone for a bball coach and they have ridden that to where they have a better shot at keeping their coach.

If someone wanted to write comments in favor of moving to FBS, but doesn't want to go through all the posts to compile a list of reasons.....what would those top reasons be? Yes, I am drafting my comments. I have some reasons but am curious as to what people think the top reasons are for moving to FBS.

I am in favor of the FBS move - I posted on another thread 10 reasons I have heard/thought about as reasons against the move (shadowing the competition).

Here are (my) 10 reasons to move up:
1) Elite FCS football will become revenue neutral or much worse in the future.
2) FCS status limits our moves during a very volatile conference reshuffle period.
3) 4th to market (VA FBS teams) is better than 5th/6th - or never. (there is a risk to monitoring the situation).
4) Athletics at the highest level - gets national and international attention for a University.
5) FBS status with a 25K stadium, allows us to schedule more noteworthy home/away series (better draws).
6) FBS status allows us to recruit the highest caliber STUDENT/athlete - JMU is already renown as a great academic and social option.
7) JMU aspires to have a national profile, what other program would be content with 2nd or 3rd tier status in this plan?
8) JMU game day is already awesome. Get more alumni back for more meaningful games and you build a connection with alumni. Getting on campus and staying involved means $$$S.
9) JMU faculty will get raises, more recognition as part of a national university, and opportunity to move elsewhere if they desire for more money.
10) JMU's vision (including FBS in the next 3 years) begins to net large growth in our endowment - (25 years without FB at the highest level have not fared well in this respect).

A bonus five too.

11) Purple is much better than maroon
12) Dogs are better than cats
13) Spiders and ticks are helpful in the circle of life, but are pretty worthless as mascots and conference mates.
14) Featherless tribe are politically correct, but more inclined for a mythical 'public ivy'.
15) Lions, Rams, and Patriots have found greener pastures, turtles and knights have taken the BIG bait, and Mountain-men and Orange-men chase pay day's - staying put is easy and could be dangerous ...

He did have JMU roots, I'll say that for him. A .363 record as a head coach should never ever land you another head coaching gig at a level a step up. I don't care how many donor friends he had. It was a bad hire and an even worse extension. Ugghh, I still get ill thinking about that era.
