RE: Bruce Pearl at FedExForum for Memphis Madness
Bruce Pearl is a scumbag who is a .snitch when it was someone else cheating because he had some kind of moral dilema but when he was caught cheating lost his morals and became a liar.

I could deal with a snitch, or a cheater or a liar, but I can't handle a guy who is all three.

pretty sure there's a lot more coaches worse than Pearl and are still out there cheating/lying every day that we don't know about.

Bruce knows Pastner will be here 3 more years tops. Whether it's by excelling & moving on, or by under achieving & getting the boot. Schools are waiting for Pastner to prove he can mold all Americans together. Once he does that he's gone. Bruce pearl would be here forever. It's a potential great marriage.

Oh Lord, please tell me you are kidding. The FEF would be half empty and donations would plummet. There is NO one in the athletic dept. stupid enough to even consider this for one second, thank goodness.

Can't argue about some of the results about what Pearl did at ut but what about him blowing the biggest lead in NCAA tourney history against The OSU? Wonder if Josh did the same thing if some on here would be talking about what a great coach he is? He also got smoked by SW Missou when he had a high seed as well. Yes, Pearl brings alot to the table but there are other things to consider , especially character. Like The Wolf says, just because you are a character does not mean you have character. I'll take my chances with CJP.

I like winning. I also like great basketball coaches. Seems like a perfect match.

You like coaches that get their teams put on probation, lose scholarships, lose recruiting visits & chase co-eds? I'd like to skip another round of probation, thank you very much.

We hired a coach with a reputation for paying or allowing his players to be paid, and he turned into the greatest coach our University has ever seen. No reason to turn BP away if we're in the market.

Que? If Pastner left us, Bruce Pearl would be on the short list to call. You can bet your sweet bippy.

In response to the inevitable "we'll be short one booster then", you'll be quickly replaced in spades.

RE: Bruce Pearl at FedExForum for Memphis Madness
I lived in Knoxville while pearl coached there. I got access to some practices. I'm telling you, he's a basketball genius, & his motivational genius is amazing. Also, I seem to remember the UofM taking a shot on a controversial coach 13 years ago. Many didn't agree with it & never jumped on board until the 05/06 season. That, however, worked out great for the program to this day. The brand standard, UK, has been pretty successful with the same coach. The SEC pushes the limits everyday & makes Billion$. Not saying any of this would ever happen, but you gotta take chances, & if Pastner left Pearl would be the best available coach. Fannie Mae is a controversial company, but it's been making me lots of money since it crashed in 08 as i buy & sell over & over. I'll take controversy with results any day. I may be in the minority, but I've watched my Tigers be successful doing it with players like Dixon & a coach like Cal. While everyone jumps on board & makes exceptions for them once they are on board. Pearl deserves a second shot. He made a mistake & let it multiply when he lied. How many of us lie everyday at work, to family, to church, to God? He'll land somewhere someday, & I'll be pulling for him.

A coach that had an entire season wiped off the record books, had the team put on NCAA probation & bailed when the sh!t started hitting the fan, taking all the recruits with him & you consider that the best coach we've ever had?

Preach.

I'm not going to say he's not to blame for the lies he told, but he's serving his time for it, and he knows that if he simply comes clean about the BBQ he gets a slap on the wrist. Shouldn't have lied and he's paying the price.

Absolutely. It's really not even a discussion. Larry is a legend and number one in my heart, but if we're talking about results and raising the profile of the program, it's Cal all day.
