...a top 12 basketball conference.* Eat it, CBS!

'The Dagger', Yahoo Sports' college basketball blog published this C-USA preview: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaab-the-...ncaab.html

New coaches: None... are we not CUSA this year in basketball? Not that I think we'll be a player this season.

UTEP also has a NCAA bid within the last 5 years.

Yahoo Sports has always been from my vantage point, very respectful and receptive to Conference USA, I could call David Nuno on his regular talk show there and ask a C-USA question and he answered them without reservation or resentment...(bleeping) try that with WJOX and see what happens.

This article was dated Oct. 2 but failed to mention that Washburn transferred to TCU. Did he or did he not?

I believe that C-USA will be a middle of the pack conference...somewhere from 9-11. Except for Memphis the quality of the conference doesn't suffer that much with the replacements.

Chris Washburn did transfer. His older brother, Julian, is still at UTEP.

Excluding MEM, I would say it improved.

I'm expecting the top half to be very competitive.

I think that losing Memphis could help CUSA basketball. If Memphis wins every year then the other schools lose interest. The other schools will step it up when they feel that they are in it.

I think the conference is adding a team next year that even exceeds my Tigers, I actually think that was Cusa's best recent addition

WKU has a very strong history...but I think you're going too far by implying they fill the void we left and then some.

I think CUSA has a chance to prove the Ewing Factor theory. We're outta here...so the conference is no longer Memphis and 11 other teams. For too many years, we ran roughshod on the league and too many critics incorrectly thought there was no quality in the league. Now, CUSA gets to prove itself without the 800-lb gorilla. I have a feeling things will work out.
