I wouldnt call 133 yds and 2.9 ypc successful.

Besides if Im not mistaken VT's strength on defense over the past few years has been the secondary not the run D.

Not saying we will shut down Marshall's running game, but our run D is the best part of our team at this point in the season.

If Kevin Grooms is 100% then there isn't a player on your team that can catch him once he hits the hole. Now if he is still hobbled by his ankle and not 100% then you have a decent shot. But I also would not read too much into our numbers from VT. We only played Essray Taliaferro for that game because he is the thicker, stronger back that is the best at recognizing and picking up the blitz. Butler just isn't big enough to thwart many of the blitzes that VT was throwing our way.

Not as confident as other Herdies that this will be an easy task. This game actually has me concerned. UTSA can score points and I am not confident in our DB's playing well the whole game. We haven't faced a good passing team yet. This will be a test. jmo.

Not saying that it will be. I am saying it should be. Like I said if Legg puts his foot down on the gas and we run 90+ plays in this game and Cato is in rhythm this game will be over in short order. Sure they might score 20-28 on us, maybe., but we should be able to score 55+. We won't hit 60 because unless in cases like ECU last year when we are forced Doc shuts her down when we get in the 50s. I do not believe Doc has pushed it to 60 in a blowout yet.

UTSA fans are hearing that YAC Monster Kam Jones could be out of tomorrow's game. He is the most consistent weapon on our offense and that would be an obvious huge blow

Marshall is #1 in total offense and #1 in total defense in CUSA. We are also #3 in special teams.

Marshall is avg 39.1 points per game and giving up 19.4

UTSAs stats are skewed just a little. Had Oklahoma State kept their starters in there is no way UTSA scores 35 on them. I doubt they score more than 7, what they had going into the 4th quarter.

Everyone but Jeremiah Taylor is suppose to be back this game. That includes CUSA Freshman of the year last year in Kevin Grooms. Grooms has only carried the ball 4 times this year for 51 yards but he is a threat to take it to the house anytime he touches the ball.

We did lose an OLineman in Josh Lovell who left the team due to personal reasons.

100% this.

Except that talent is a big factor. And UTSA does not have 50+ in terms of depth. Marshall does.

If you look at the Ruffin McNeill era so far, you'll see that he has a somewhat accurate track record of winning games that should be won and losing games that should be lost.

Not to mention if someone like Wilkins or MooMoo gets behind their line, no way they catch either. Plus 25 yards or in Gator is a hand full for anyone especially if he gets a mismatch with a safety or linebacker.

For the millionth time, OkSt played a lot of starters late into the 4th quarter. Coach Gundy pulled many of his starters but put them back in after UTSA scored so easily Additionally UTSA backups scored the last touchdown.

(10-04-2013 07:52 AM)BleedsGreen33 Wrote:  Just because you rotate players does not mean that your talent runs that deep. The talent on our roster, ECUs roster, and others the like have deeper talent at each position than UTSA does. Your DBs are a good example. I read on your own site that your DBs are a spot of concern and with a QB like Cato and a WR like Shuler they will have a field day if your secondary is weak.

Dont change your argument now. You said UTSA lost against Houston because "lack of depth caused them to wear down in the 4th". Im telling you our best players are fresh in the 4th because other than QB and the o-line UTSA constantly rotates players throughout the game--more so than any team Ive seen actually. Your "theory" for why we lost is dumb and has no basis.

DBs are a problem, specifically at corner. Not because UTSA is a little three year old that cant yet attract talent but because four of them were dismissed in the off-season...including a would-be senior that was the team's best corner a season ago and a couple of 3-stars that were being redshirted. Cato will get his numbers, dont think anyone is expecting UTSA to shut the passing game down.

Why is that we get props from posters until we have to play them and their whole attitude changes? "We gonna hang 55+ on UTSA" I expect Cato to get his, but so will Soza.

It's a sports message board on the internet. Toughen up and don't take it personally.

Thick skin? I was born with it buddy. And I was being sarcastic. I don't give two sh!ts what's really said on any board. I never take it personal either. I was just stating the obvious.

Sorry we had some down years due to making the wrong coaching hire. I'm sure ECU's never made that mistake before...03-melodramatic

Kam Jones did not make the trip to Huntington. So I guess he won't be on the field.
