CBS Tweets Navy Game Is On---Navy Says "Not True"
Eye on College FBall ‏@EyeOnCFB 2m
11:30 a.m. ET Saturday on CBS! RT @NavalAcademy: Game on! #BeatAirForce

Then shortly thereafter this came out

Naval Academy ‏@NavalAcademy 12m
ALL - No decision has been made regarding the Navy-AFA Football game. We are investigating the source of previous tweets. CDR John Schofield

So, looks like there has still been no solution to the issue yet.

Never mind. The tweet has been deleted and the Naval Academy is now indicating there has not yet been any decision made.

I don't get it. The bill is signed and ALL military is getting paid. This has nothing to do with the shutdown.

Don't be daft. The game is not put on by uniformed military only.

There are dozens of contractors and vendors that need assurances that they will be paid in order for the game to happen.

I am a Federal contractor and have been given stop work orders on contracts. Almost everyone I know that has work associated with the military or Fed Govt in general is in the same boat.

Here's the fact of the matter: The Anti-deficiency Act prevents Federal employees in the executive branch from incurring expenses that Congress has not funded.

So without the ability to pay the civilian contractors and vendors that make the game possible, the game is very much in doubt. They may find another solution, but that is why the issue even exists.

Not true. National Guard and Army Reserves who "drill monthly" have been told any units that had drills scheduled the weekend of 5-6 October, that those drills are now CANCELLED. Units drilling the following weekend will receive notification soon of possible cancellations. Also federal employees that work with units are now on furlough. Plus military schools have been cancelled unless it is distance learning, so yes the Regular Army may still be getting paid for now, but NOT ALL MILITARY. This may have something to do with the Academies. That's why they expect to know by noon tomorrow.

The memorial is under the parks administration, not the Military. I expect the academies are under education and not military.

Not so fast my friend. I'm not. My unit (Army Reserve) canceled drill this weekend and I know of several thousand active duty soldiers at other bases on furlough...

Man I hate when Politics get involved with sports. This is like the sequester, one side is trying to make it hurt and look worse than it actually is. Please not trying to get into a GOP/DEM coversation, wish both sides would just stay out of sports!

Not to get into a political debate but Obamacare is not "funded" by the appropriations process. At least, the exchanges are not. Similarly, certain responsibilities of the executive branch are not subject to appropriations, for instance, the folks who do background checks for OPM.
