RE: Government shutdown and affect on Navy football games
No one pays attention to The Spin Room. I enjoyed T-Town's post, and he warned everyone not to read if they weren't interested. Besides, we aren't likely to win the MAC so politics are more interesting at the moment anyway...

RE: Government shutdown and affect on Navy football games
OK...looking back, I guess I kinda started this spin out of control with my post. So, please allow me to take that accountability, offer my apologies, and use the prerogative to end this discussion on this Board by stating what I think the majority of Americans believe:
1. Health care is very important--especially when you a) don't have it, or b) don't have very comprehensive coverage. I'm fortunate, but I know others aren't. The fact that health care has become an industry more than a service is part of the problem, but only part.
2. Something needs to be done--the greatest country in the world should be able to figure this out. But, the Affordable Care Act as passed into law has some significant flaws, some of which we may not even realize yet.
3. Having said that, work the problem. A forced government shutdown of any scope or length of time is an inappropriate and inproportionate response.
There. I think almost all of us can agree on that. Now, as others have said, let's focus on our Rockets. Tomorrow is a big game--we need to get the train back on the track, and do so convincingly. While I just don't think that a Division or MAC championship is in the cards, a bowl game may be in the balance, and the Rockets need to start showing positive consistency throughout the remainder of this season to get that accomplished. I fear that a 7-5 season will not be a comfortable place to be when bowl invites start going out, so there may not be much wiggle room left.
