I knew we should've added Rutgers...you just don't pass on the 1948 Fencing National champs. Friggin Swofford.

I tried fencing once. It's actually pretty fun. Not much athleticism involved, but you do need good eye coordination. Maybe SU can be the beast of another second rate sport, ie; lax.

Hopefully, Jurich is looking at gymnastics to counterbalance a men's lax add. There's no other women's-only ACC sport that UL can add and Pitt, UNC, and NCSU need another team thanks to MD.

Press conference tomorrow to announce UL has hired Mary Lou Retton as our first ever Gymnastics coach.....

We've been hearing the "Jurich is leaving for job X" line since 2005 at least. And every year, Jurich stays put in Louisville.

Athletic director salary database

Texas will have to pay more than they currently do to get him as Jurich is the second highest paid AD in the country (only Vanderbilt's AD makes more but he is also a tenured law professor and vice-chancellor).

But more than that, Texas would also have to match the same level of control. At Louisville, Jurich is both the athletic director and the vice president of athletics. He has an excellent working relationship with Dr. Ramsey and pretty much whatever he wants rubber stamped by the BOT. That level of control and oversight is almost more important than the money for a guy like Jurich (based on my personal experience with him and from knowing several people working in the athletics department). That level of control Jurich constantly

He could almost certainly get more money at Texas but I'm not sure he'll get that type of control at Texas (e.g. there are actually two separate ADs at Texas - one for women and one for men). You have to remember that Jurich has been at Louisville since 1998 and has an established legacy/power base at Louisville. He's already established himself as one of the best in the business, he has the powder to do pretty much what he wants, and he finally has a stable conference home. Would he really walk away from all of that to start all over again at a new university?

I wouldn't blame him if he decided to leave for a much bigger payday and Texas could certainly outbid Louisville. But at the same time, I think he'll end up staying put.

I actually think Jurich would be a pretty good Commisioner if he could run the ACC like he did Louisville watch out.

Women's gymanstics makes the most sense to balance out lacrosse.
They already sponsor every other wommen's acc sport and acc need 1 more to get to 4.

Louisville might have Title IX issues if they add men's lax.

Currently, Louisville reports 51.6% female students and has 48.6% of its athletic scholarships (if it fully funds every sport) for women. That's not bad, actually, but if they add men's lax, that will drop to 46.6% women's scholarships. That's pretty borderline.

Louisville is involved in the STUNT cheer sport trying to get it to pass Title IX muster and be recognized by the NCAA as a sport, but I don't know if that will actually happen. FSU is the only other ACC school that is trying to field STUNT teams.

I would look for UL to add men's lax and women's gymnastics that will move their scholarship numbers to 50.5% women.

Agreed... I believe he would've negotiated a better TV deal, that's for sure. Lol.
