June isn't getting fired this year.

SMU has won 4 conference championships in the last 65 years.

All four were earned while the school was on NCAA probation for major recruiting violations and for paying players, activities which eventually resulted in the university earning the humiliating death penalty for football.

In the past 60 years no coach at SMU other than June Jones has had even a .500 season against FBS competition without incurring major recruiting violations at some time during their tenure.

So, unless they're some octogenarian able to relive some hazy glory days that predate the end of the Truman administration, these June Jones seasons are the ONLY Glory Days for SMU.

Forget the notion of firing June Jones, instead SMU fans should be collecting bronze for his statue.

I don't understand how Lane Kiffin, based on HIS coaching record continued to get bigger contracts at each stop along the way yet left each program he coached with a complete dumpster fire that those programs are still trying to put out and recover from.
