2014 Baseball Schedule Released
http://www.riceowls.com/sports/m-basebl/...sched.html
Season-opener vs. Stanford in Palo Alto, followed by a 6-game home stand (mid-weekers against Texas State and UH, followed by hosting Purdue the second weekend, and then SHS in a mid-weeker)...then Minute Maid (UT, TCU, Tech)...followed by the commencement of conference play with Old Dominion. Other highlights include: a second game against TCU at home on March 11th, a home and home against UT at Reckling on April Fools Day (!) and back in Austin the following week, and a home game against the Aggies on April 22nd. On the down side, this probably means we play road games at TCU and A&M in 2015.
27 home games
3 neutral site @ Minute Maid
23 road games
Longest road trip is 5 games.
18 games against projected Top 50 teams:
Stanford x 3
USM x 3
ECU x 3
UT x 3
TCU x 2
SHS x 2
A&M x 1
TTech x 1

4 neutral site games. The 5/13 Silver Glove Series game is at Constellation Field in Sugar Land.
Pretty solid schedule. A ton of RPI building opportunities in the mid-week that we have to take advantage of. Not sure how strong the conference slate will be. FAU finished ahead of us in the RPI (#24), but I don't know what they bring back.

RE: 2014 Baseball Schedule Released
So ODU for baseball is a conference game? Are they conference games in any other sport for this academic year?

Even with Purdue, our OOC slate will be as tough as anyone outside Cal State-Fullerton and possibly TCU. Stanford, UT and TCU are all likely Top 25 teams...with A&M, USM and ECU very close behind. Then there's SHS, Texas State and what should be an improved UH team. Much better schedule than last year. Possibly no sub-200 RPI team; whereas last year we played 4 weekend series against such teams, which really dragged down our RPI. We also didn't have TCU, UT or the Aggies to help it out.

Riceowls.com is having a little trouble this afternoon. I'm tried refreshing my browser cache I'm still seeing the 2013 schedule.
Even funnier are the top headlines on the Baseball main page:

Click on the "season" box in the URH corner and select the 2013 - '14 season....or just click on the link I provided above.

That was when they were doing the flashbacks for the ten year anniversary of the title.
I was having the same issue. Right above "next event", there is a drop down box that still is defaulted to select 2012-13. If you click on it, there is a 2013-14 option that will update the schedule accordingly.

One of the games against UH is at the Skeeters ballpark in Sugar Land. I like that idea.
Where is the conference tournament going to be?

I'm curious about the rationale for playing at the Skeeters ballpark. Money? Exposure? Neither Reckling nor UH's park sell out when Rice and UH meet. Reckling is a great place to watch a game and UH's park is OK. There is certainly more promotional work to be done in Rice's and UH's backyard to get more fans in the seats. I hope the Skeeters folks are really making it worth our while to play an important game there.

tapping new markets? the Fort Bend and Katy areas are huge and growing and a fair distance from both Reckling and UH.
EDIT: I wonder if Skeeters will promote the game to their ticket holders.

RE: 2014 Baseball Schedule Released
Trust me, while Reckling Park is wonderful, if you have young children, they will enjoy the Skeeters Park more. The only issue is they may want to spend the entire game in the playground area in the outfield (and also there's a splash area so you might want to bring them in a swimsuit and change of clothes), and depending on their age, you may be forced to camp out there and having a tough time watching the action on the field. I don't know if this is considered a home game for either team but it's quite possible this will be a record crowd if it is (I don't believe any MMP games have ever been considered home games).

It is not a downside to me. It would be great to finally see Rice play in TCU's new park that opened in 2003.

Rice has played in TCU's new park when we played Air Force in last year's Armed Forces Bowl.
