I wouldn't say beating USA is a steal. Seems like an even game.

With how up and down wku, stAte and Troy have been, I wouldnt consider it an upset either, just meaning to point out that its very realistic to see a 7-5 or maybe better record is very possible. Bowling is still not out of the realm of possibility.

There's not a game in the SBC for any team that should be a sure win other than GSU....

well maybe the Troy (crybaby) freaking st Trojans but those 2 are it.

Yeah the conference is hard to predict. God help me if we loss to GSU.

It really depends on how we react to this spanking (and make no mistake, that's what this was).

If it pisses off the team and they come out mad against ULM, I could see us running off 4 wins (1 easy, 3 tough ones). Then the rest of the season is a tough run to test our team's mettle.

But if we limp to the end of the season, we'll be sitting at home watching bowls.

And I still say bowl eligibility is a solid year for us. True frosh as a QB, lots of youth on the O-line, and a bit more seasoning for our defense (we lose quite a few, but we keep some key guys)... would make the future look really bright for us.

What is there to say? Naturally this one hurts a lot because we believed TXST could be more competitive than that this year. Our offense has been somewhere between mediocre and god awful in 4 of our 5 games now, so it isn't just a case of having a bad game.

Perhaps the Wyoming game was an aberration... or maybe their D was just that bad.

Your program is young and growing. You have an excellent young QB. You have a good and seasoned head coach. You ran into another good coach and a veteran team. The best years of TXST football are ahead of you. Heck you might get into a bowl this year.

I hate the fact we get you when your QB has 7 starts under his belt and at your place with a possible bowl on the line for both schools. To be perfect honest at that point I hope TXST is mailing it in instead of fighting for a bowl.

Games like tonight happen to all of us at some point and it's how we bounce back that will decide the season. That was what I was talking about earlier in the week. But with 3 home games coming up TXST can get well quick.

God, do I remember the cajuns doing this under bustle. MT in 2006 comes to mind from the top of my head. It takes a very special coach to wholly change a culture at a program and that's what Hudspeth did for us. I think Fanchione can get it done, but Jones needs a year or 2 to really drive yall to the next level. Still (I sound like a broken record) but bowl eligibility is still there for yall to get to. hell, a conference championship is still attainable, although I hope the cajuns end up champs this season. Good luck the rest of the year.

Nope. I meant what I wrote. Still do. So I fixed it back.

Thanks for bringing back bad memories. Yea, after that MT game I started calling Bustle, "Busted". I wanted him gone and took a lot of grief over it but it was obvious he wasn't going to take us any farther than just being a low level 1-A team that will win a few games. With Hud it seems the sky is the limit.

How good of a dual threat? Brett Smith is not a 4.5 athlete at QB from what I've seen and he certainly doesn't run the Zone Read as well as Terrance Broadway.

Brett is this kind of good, has better numbers than Terrance already

Brett Smith has 45 carries for 282 yards; 141 pass complete for 1607 65%
Terrance Broadway has 46 carries for 151 yards; 68 for 818yards 63%

He is one of the best kept secrets in College Football right now. This past Saturday Brett Smith had 9 carries for -17 yards against Texas State Bobcat D.

Ya still think Smith is better than Broadway, the guy who is tearing up your defense.

LOL! I was going to ask him the same thing but he seems to have disappeared. That was no Wyoming out there, but much more talented team. To the folks that traveled down to Lafayette from San Marcos, thanks for coming. Good group of fans!

Man, I was at the game in houston that season with a hard hat and a drum starting cheers as a student...that game against MT was such a huge deviation from the team I saw come back against the Kolb lead cougars that it's unbelievable. I figure this is how the Bobcats feel right now after pounding a very good Wyoming team last week.

You pretty much summed up the Bustle era. He took a basket case program and made it into a mediocre team which was a step up for us. He's teams always seemed to play up or down to their competition. They never won the big game. By all accounts he is a great guy and I wish him the best of luck where he is now but after the 07 debacle released all kinds of demons from our past it was way over due to send him packing. Yep, I know how they feel right now.

Our bright spot tonight - Brandon Smith - became only the 10th player in NCAA history to have two KORs for TD in a single game.

You do realize we had some backups playing on special teams? They left their lanes on that second TD. That first one he made was incredible. He must have rubber someplace in those legs for a knee not to hit the ground.

Definitely didn't say that Brett Smith was better. However, Smith faced much heavier pressure from the Bobcat D than Broadway did. I couldn't fairly compare the two enough to make a comparison. Both are fantastic QBs.

I will say that Louisiana's O-Line was much better than Wyoming's was. They did a much better job of giving their QB time to work.

Doesn't matter. He did it and it goes in the books. Could you give us one prop for the game? Geez!
Kid is a gamer and wanted to try and do something to help spark the team. Mission accomplished.
