RE: ECU VS UNC BIG GAME FOR AAC RESPECT THREAD
I watched the Tulane game this weekend and they were mentioning how they were a future AAC team. Doubt it was mentioned in our game as it was an ACC broadcast and the ACC refuses to give ECU any respect, but for people in the know it looked good for the future of the AAC. Probably not as much of an effect as what current AAC teams are doing, but like one poster mentioned, what happens this year effects the preseason image of teams next year.

They did mention it, but they called it the AAF (American Athletic Federation)

It was corrected to AAC within seconds. The ACC Network color analysts gave us better coverage than our own conference TV partners ever give. They were very complementary to our program. Announced players of the game were Shane and Coop. Hats off to the ACC Network for the class you showed to our program.

Congratulations and thanks Pirates. This win definitely improves AAC perceptions, giving us more ammunition for future arguments.

I agree that ECU is maybe the best D1 team in NC right now. However, don't put too much stock in this win as great for the AAC. UNC is 1-3 and plays VT and Miami next. They could easily go to 1-5 and may not make a bowl this year. UNC plan has been to outscore the other team, but the defense appear worse than last yer. ECU needs to get through the C-USA and plays NCSU at home. I don't think that game will play at the same, at least I hope not. I do think it will be a close one that either team could win. I am hoping for a 9-1 ECU playing a 8-2 NCSU. Should be an ESPN primetime game if both teams do what they are capable off.

That would be exciting to say the least. By the way I watched the NCSU/Clemson game and the refs completely took that game away from you. Was one of the most ridiculous calls I have ever seen. While I'm not the biggest State fan I respect you guys a whole lot more than Cryowhina and was really pulling for you in that one because I think both ECU and NC State can be pretty good this year, and the game in Raleigh could be a great one. 04-cheers

Curious, does ECU have a QB in waiting? I know NCSU is excited about our FL QB transfer that will play next year. I am glad this will be the last chance for the Pack to face Shane Carden. It is a shame you all weren't in the AAC this year, I would have love to see you all play Louisville.

Air Raid systems carry something like 6 quarterbacks and 20 wide receivers. And while that is a little sarcasitc, it is not too far from the truth.

Next fall 99.9% of football fans in America won't be able to tell you if they even played, much less who won. If ECU sucks next year that's all people will know or care about. Maybe it makes die hard AAC fans looking for respect feel all warm and fuzzy, but that's about all.

For 2015 it will either be Cody Keith who will be a senior or more likely (imo) Kurt Benkert who will be a sophomore. Both were rated 3 star prospects by both Rivals and 247.

Yes, his name is Cody Keith. Not sure if he will take the reigns in two years but he is #2 right now. Kid had some hype in high school. We'll see if it pans out.

Edit: Forgot about Benkert. A Florida QB with good talent. Who knows?

RE: ECU VS UNC BIG GAME FOR AAC RESPECT THREAD
We have a verbal from another 3* QB from Florida that has impressive film. We still have Shane for one more year after this year so i dont expect too much of a drop off from our offensive production. We replace Cooper but likely a talented freshman who had offers from everyone that not too many people know that we got. Defense replaces some pieces at Safety and Corner but for the most part the front 7 is pretty young as well as our receivers.

I think you are on target with Benkert...Hearing exciting things about him.

Thanks, for some reason I thought Cardin was a Sr. ECU should do very well next year in the AAC! Definately the best team coming in next season.

And what is funny now, he didn't even start until the third game last year. He has taken his starter role and ran with it.

And progressed quickly. To be honest, I didn't think he would become what he did. In his first few games, I saw him more as a slow armed Tebow type with less athletic ability. I'm a fan...big fan these days.

Speaking of Tim Tebow, ECU just got a verbal from another FL. QB who just broke Tebow's high school record.

04-bow

I seem to remember Isaiah Pead also broke Archie Griffin's Ohio HS record. So, if results hold to that form, maybe a good trend?
