A B-52 broke up over eastern North Carolina dropping its payload as it went down. The payload, two HYDROGEN BOMBS, advanced safety measures were not in place and three of four safety's on the bombs failed, had the fourth failed lethal radioactive fallout would have been unleashed on the east coast as far north and NYC. 04-jawdrop Good to know the government always has the American public's safety in mind.

nuclear weapons do save lives because they prevent wars or keep wars from escalating, however.....

the potential for a freak accident like this to happen, or for a 2nd/3rd world country to lose control of its nukes.

sooner or later somethings gonna happen

Broken Arrows....

Lots of "fun" cleaning up.

In 1980 someone dropped a wrench down a Titan II silo in Arkansas. The wrench caused a fuel leak and explosion that blew the silo apart with the warhead landing about 500 feet from the silo.

The warhead had a yield of between 5 and 9 MT.
