Another BIG day for the Mercer Bears! The first D1 opponent of the modern era. It is also the first conference game in the Pioneer League. For anyone reading that doesn't know -- Mercer plays in the Pioneer League this year, and joins the Southern Conference next year.

Drake has won or shared the Pioneer League title the last two years. I need to do some reading on league history. I've noticed they struggled and lost against non-D1 opponents this year though.

The main challenge is that Drake is full of Seniors, Juniors, etc... while Mercer is all underclassmen minus 1 kicker.

Mercer rolls Drake by the final of 31-17! Mercer never trailed, and forced 7 turnovers. This team has done an amazing job, and now stand at 4-0 after beating a defending 2-time PFL champion. Go Bears!
