IMHO, Kug wants to run a Pittsburg Steelers type of system ( smashmouth great defense)

He just doesn't have the horses to do that yet. Give him two years to recruit defense and I think we should see a bowl team. If not, we need to move on.

< .500 this year, = .500 next year, > .500 yr 3. The defense was the issue in game 1 & 2. I was unable to watch or listen for game 3 but it seems like there were issues on both sides of the ball. The offense has had more time with the system with the exception of Showers not practicing until August. This style of play is much different though. The defense gets a pass this year due to the multiple coordinator changes. Recruiting defensive players must be the focus these next 2 years IMO. There is talent, just not enough to adapt to the new scheme. I'm willing to endure Kugler's leadership as long as there is at least 1 or 2 more wins each year. If year 3 is anything less than .500 then it would be time for a change.

He likes to run the ball up the middle. Thing is, that unless you have the linemen to open up the middle, it is going to give you lots of "3rd and 7"s....... Which is where we are.
