RE: ***Official EIU Game Thread***
Somebody posted elsewhere that Lemon had been suspended for the game due to breaking of team rules.

When our first team DLine (I want to say Bishop, Rainey, Windsor) was out there, we seemed to get decent pressure and had several stops. However, when the their backups were out there, they drove at will. The drive that sticks out was 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter and I was looking for Bishop and Rainey, didn't see them, and just got marched on. Next drive they had we had a big sack, etc. Just what I noticed.
Also, Santa seemed to play a lot, and had a very good game. Didn't hear much of Bass, Lemon, or the Boom. Bass almost had a pick, but I just didn't feel like other than Santa, any of the LB's caught my attention.
Lemon did not dress. I agree, Santa had a huge game. It said he had 15 tqckles, it seemed like more than that. He has a nose for the football. I don't like having or LB's covering WR man to man. We beat a solid football team last night.

Carey needs to get the team to be more disciplined, the penalties are really starting to pile up.

RE: ***Official EIU Game Thread***
My thoughts on the game:
1. The defense had an extremely difficult time putting pressure on their QB in the first quarter. It wasn't until we were down 20 points that we seemed to make some adjustments (more stunts, I believe), and had some more success.
2. When we blitzed, their QB had no time. I was surprised we didn't see more of it. He is a good QB and had way too much time back there. Although, anyone notice he would just stare down his receivers? You knew exactly where he wanted to go as soon as the ball was snapped.
3. Some of our play calls were just plain dumb. Stingily was having his way with them in the second half. We could have given him the ball on every play as we were up 7 and trying to take time off the clock and extend the lead. He was easily averaging 4 yards per carry. Throwing the ball clear across the field on an out pattern is just not needed at that time. We got picked on that play and allowed EIU to get back into the game.
4. Cam Stinigly is a freaking beast. Easily player of the game. It was nice to see him lighten Jordan's load, and actually open things up for Jordan as now they had to respect Stingily. I hope we see more and more of this. And imagine what's gonna happen if Akeem is added to the mix.
5. For whatever reason, the defense looked completely confused to start the game. We can't afford to do that anymore. We're lucky our offense is powerful enough to overcome that deficit.
6. We looked ill-prepared for plays we should have been prepared for (onside kicks, etc.). You knew a team like that was going to pull those plays out of the hat.
7. FALSE FREAKING STARTS...just stop. I'll wrap that in with USE YOUR DAMN HEAD...we would have had 4th and inches on the goal line if it weren't for a stupid and obvious personal foul on one of the Oline. Cost us 4 points since we made the FG.
8. It was good to see that adjustments were made and things got better. We've been consistent doing that through 3 games.

Penalties and slow starts will be this teams demise starting next week if it's not addressed.

I'll give credit to EIU....they had the guts/gall to go for it on 4th down, midfield multiple times, onside on the second drive....totally caught us off guard, and they executed....The gall of it all!

Can't wait to have Akeem healthy. Alternating Akeem and Cameron Stingly will make us that more difficult to stop. Last pressure on Lynch to run, the more productive he will be. But PLEASE shore up the defense and reduce penalties.

2 games in a row: Brescanin & Sebastiano.... 0 receptions.

Think he hit himself in the nuts on that play he kept grabbing that area. He will play against Purdue. EIU is better than Purdue IMO
EIU has the best QB we'll face all season until we possibly get to a bowl. There's no one in the MAC as good as him.
Very easy to look like a good QB when receivers always have a 5 yard separation from their defensive counterpart
Agreed. Coverage by our DBs should've been tighter. Hope that gets fixed.
The coaches will be able to address the penalties. I sure hope the five yard gap by the DBs was by design and not an indicator of actual capability. We need to be better next week in order to beat a less talented team than EIU.
One thing is very true of this team thus far this season, we play up or down to the talent level of our opponent. It can be very frustrating but at least they are W's.
Yeah, but our DBs (corner backs) were getting their butt's kicked. Lots of receivers went open over the top.
