I think with ECU's win over Carolina, it's now only reasonable to say it's ECU. Glad they finally decided they could run the ball again.
My gut tells me Marshall is just as good, but they have failed to prove it. We'll know in 8 short weeks.

RE: Which team is the best in C-USA?
My gut tells me that ECU is a little bit better than Marshall but the fact that we play @Marshall @ the end of the season has me worried.
I think we would beat Marshall 8 out of 10 in Greenville (we've actually never lost to Marshall at home) but only 5 out of 10 @Marshall in late November.

I think Marshall and ECU are even on talent. But I have to give ECU the edge because I think Ruffin is a top flight coach.

Marshall played Va Tech tough in Blacksburg and should have won the game. ECU played Va Tech tough in Greenville and had a chance to win. I think Marshall is a smidget better than ECU at the moment. The win over UNC was very good for ECU but lets be real, UNC is not a very good program at the moment and their 1-3 record says as much.

Get real. Losing to South Carolina, Georgia Tech and ECU is not playing teams like Gardner Webb, Miami Oh or Ohio. Define good, they already drilled a top 4 CUSA team. That UNC team has 8 projected NFL draft picks (5 first day) and a good coach and they were projected to win 9 or 10 games by Marshall's beloved Phil Steele coming off an 8-4 season. I can tell you this, they aren't a loss to Ohio.

Actually Phil Steele said that UNC was a darkhorse "BCS contender." Then again consider the source, because Phil Steele heaped all kind of praise on Tulsa and Boise State too.

Please! ECU beat UNC in their place by as many points as they lost to the Gamecocks and Yellow Jackets combined (both road games). UNC also rolled MT which I still think is a solid team. UNC is a team that the football guru Phil Steele listed as a dark horse Nat'l Title contender. & while that is laughable, no one would be surprised if they beat a team like the Ohio Bobcats by 2 or 3 TDs.
ECU is a strong team. I was at the game on Saturday & UNC fans were saying that they couldn't believe that the ECU players seemed bigger, faster & much better than their squad. UNC had to resort to trickery just to maintain some semblance of respect. ECU is surging right now & the best is yet to come because of the guy in this article below, a talented cohesive team, & coach Ruff.
http://acc.blogs.starnewsonline.com/3831...-the-week/
Also, I must give credit to coach Connors, our strength & conditioning coach, who was also our S&C coach in the 1990s when ECU was often ranked nationally, went to back to back Liberty Bowls (including a win over Stanford) & was upsetting big time Nat'l programs yearly. He makes players blow up. Carden went from benching 225 last year to 350 this year. It's because of coach Conners and the coaching staff's ability to mold & develop good athletes into great ones that gives me confidence for the future. We get stronger in the 4th quarter because of coach Connors.
Hate on our program all you want but it's like Ruff always says, "Want some, get some!"

ECU is currently the best in C-USA. Accept the truth and move on. There is still a lot of football left to be played.

NO! I'm not accepting that...you must argue about it. Otherwise, how do we keep SJ posting on this board?

I don't give a flying phuck about any damn numbers you quote or post SJ. MY PHUKCING OPINION IS THAT MARSHALL IS A PHUCKING SMIDGET BETTER THAN ECU!!!! If you don't like my opinion then you can either don't read it or suck a fat one and keep it moving.
UNC isn't good, doesn't matter what Phil Steele projected in the f'n preseason or how many projected NFL prospects UNC currently has. The fact of the matter is that UNC is a terrible football team period. But I give ECU credit for going into UNC and destroying them on their field.

"Work ethic and progress in strength and conditioning program is equally as notable with a back squat of 510 pounds, a bench press of 320, a pro shuttle time of 4.25 and a vertical jump of 31.5" during spring testing."
Several months after this year's bio was posted Carden tweeted that he got up 350!

I forgot to add that coach Connors was around all the way back for the 1992 Peach Bowl when ECU finished #9 in both polls. He left ECU for the Tar Heels in 2000. After he left our play & conditioning dropped off. I'm glad he's back on our side.

I agree..I think the talent is pretty much equal. Ruff is a super person and very good recruiter, He has hired a good staff...especially bringing in Rick Smith on defense and Coach Conners...the strength coach. We are MUCH more physical now. Conners brings out the damn beast in players. He did it years ago at ECU and is doing it again under Ruff. He is not just a strength coach...He is a motivator of young men.
I would credit Jeff Conners more than any coach in what Ruff has been able to accomplish this year.
If being able to hire a good staff is what makes a coach top flight?...then Ruff fits that bill. I frankly think the world of the guy and am pulling for him. Nothing would make me happier than to see him retire at ECU.
That being said...The season is early. This team still has LOTS to prove IMO before I claim it totally legit. The road leads to Huntington. Nuff said.
